It was a nice night and a lot of fun for the fans Wish they had played with the Bristol’s that night instead.🫥

Is this the show they did at the Raleigh Pier which was a bar in a shopping center?? I was at that show and it was great. The Georgia Satellites guys were there and got up and played a song or two with them as I recall.

I remember when "Horseshoes and Hand Grenades" came out; I loved that album. A few years back I actually found a NM copy of this recording on vinyl, which was super surprising since it was never released as a vinyl LP. It was some kind of promotional release for radio stations. It's one of my prized possessions.

As a former musician and lover of many (but not all music), one of my favorite songs ever is "Skyway", but then "Even Here We Are" joined that club when I bought Paul's solo album back in 1993 and heard it for the first time. "14 Songs" is an album packed with TOO many great songs arranged in such a creative order for the listener to enjoy. He should have made it "10 songs" and kept four of some of the better ones for the next album, because his following albums didn't have that many songs that you'd remember. "A Few Minutes of Silence" could have been the title song and name for a following album. The other three songs that should have been on a following album are "Dice Behind Shades", "Things", and "Black Eyed Susan". "14" already had a gentle song with "Even Here We Are", so "Black Eyed Susan" would go on the next. Leave the two harder-rocking filler songs like "Something is Me" and "Down Love" to make it an album of ten songs.

Fun Fact: The late Mark Sandman of the band "Morphine" played a two-string guitar that's sound was de-tuned through an amplifier. In an interview he explained that you can play all the notes on a guitar with just two strings.

I grew-up 45-minutes from Dekalb. When this show happened, I was 15 years-old & learning to play guitar … Old Metal mostly. At 18 I’d hear the Replacements for the first-time at a college-party in Dekalb. Hearing “I.O.U.” Was like hearing the music I’d wanted to hear my entire life, but hadn’t. My dad played in a band with Cheap Trick’s guitar-tech & I used Cheap Trick picks that he gave me for YEARS. It was cool to hear the Mats play their songs here. Great upload, as usual. You were my first subscription on KZbin & it’s paid-off often. 🤘🏻
