More than 12 years later, this really helped me! I couldn't figure out how to get my system tape to load (though I had done it before on its twin, the Takara Game Pasokon). The OLD command would find and load the programs but I couldn't run them. CHAIN provided the same outcome. Finally I saw you enter the TAPE command and now I got it working! Thanks!

Thank you, a very interesting machine, but a bit of a lack of documentation out there makes it harder to play with.

Amazingly great !!! I'm so stuck with Scramble, Xevious and the like though that these games look incredibly modern to me only to realise they are actually 30+ years old 😬😲. I hope your health problems are getting better 🤙🤙

Thank you, my immune system finally seems to have got on top of this latest bug. And yes even these games which look modern are now 30 years old - eek!

Within the intro, what rgb scart switchers are you using? Thank you
@electricadventures3 күн бұрын
It is a powered US made 6 in two out unit, I have had it for a long time but have not seen any similar listed for quite a few years. I have another 10 component/svideo manual switcher that goes into one of the Scart in ports and a 6 port electronic composite/svideo switcher in another port.

Why dont the others have music playing?
@electricadventures3 күн бұрын
As much as I like the attract sounds of arcade games if I had them all turned on it would be impossible to record videos and have them on in the background. Not all of them have accessible volume controls.

Thanks to a quick reply from Opcode I remembered (I apologized for the mistake). I hope I will find an exact closet soon, because a Swedish company doesn't make them anymore....

The best computer (but I may be biased :)), these SVI games are definitely unique and bring back so many memories.

I leaned Basic- programming because of SVI. We copied games from magazine. It was hell of a job to write all lines :)

Time Pilot looks like a major upgrade. He fixed the flickering sprites and they are even multi-colored sprites now not solid colors. Gameplay looks much smoother and of course it has the missing UFO level. I purchased a copy and look forward to getting this.
@electricadventures13 күн бұрын
To be fair with the flickering the Phoenix with its F18A mode is helping with that. But yes a fantastic effort it looks and plays very close to the actual arcade game one of his best titles yet.

Its a shame that there aren't enough sprites to give the player's ship a black outline in Pyxadix Ex. I have eyesight issues that mean yellow and white are practically the same to me, and I find that the only way to know where the ship is is to watch the bullet trail. It's not just a problem with your game, its all games that use coiours like that together. I find that doesn't happen so much with 16-bit game systems... which means my favorite generation of systems is becoming harder and harder for me to play. *sigh* 22222222222
@electricadventures21 күн бұрын
There is a ship shadow, helps a little over the solid areas, but yeah otherwise at the total max of sprites on screen with this one. The original game did not have a shadow and the bullets stayed a single colour. I specifically added the rotating colours for the bullets to help make them stand out. The colour and detail are also much clearer on real hardware and a CRT of course :) I’ll probably do a game testing stream on real hardware in about a weeks time, for final testing and to make sure there aren’t any bugs I don’t know about.

Wouldn't it be better to make these "stars" static, or at least move them slower?
@electricadventures23 күн бұрын
The stars as they are a repeating pattern can be scrolled smoothly, whereas the more colourful ‘mothership’ can only be scrolled in 8 pixel steps. Plus the player is flying over the ‘mothership’ as it is flying through space, gives it a greater impression of speed.

Whoever gets the completed, recently restored machine, I think they will enjoy, the effort, and especially thebenefit of your knowledge, well you've documented before, and I guess they'll get to enjoy the after. A great video, thanks. Any chance of gameplay footage from the recipients of the finished repair,; no one has to appear on camera, if that is the choice, just footage of the games being played, and enjoyed!
@electricadventuresАй бұрын
I’ll see what happens might be able to do a follow up after. I have components on order for the AV mod and will do part II when they arrive. I was surprised at how good condition the system was in.
@TheHighlander71Ай бұрын
My friend Peter was the only person I knew who had a Colecovision. His version of Donkey Kong was the best I'd ever seen. Donkey Kong was my benchmark for judging the quality of a console or 8bit computer. I couldn't understand why not everybody had a Colecovision. The colours, the sound, everything was great about it. Except the controllers :) I've always had a vision of me finding one at a thriftstore one day, but it never happened. That power supply is impressive. Does that create 5 and 12 volts from the 5V USB? I suppose 1amp is enough to run the Colecovion? Curious to see you do the A/V mod.
@electricadventuresАй бұрын
The USB adapters are rock solid with the voltages, not many amps are needed for the 12v line as most of the system runs on + or - 5v. Parts for the AV mod are on the way (didn’t have the transistor). I’ll do a video on the next steps when everything arrives. There has been released a USB adapter for Atari XE systems, I have a couple of those on the way too.

Fixing a Colecovision: Gosh opening them up without having to destroy the front bezel is something I would have loved to have known when I had to open mine up (both of them had failing power buttons at some point). Managed to fix them. :)
@electricadventuresАй бұрын
Yes I cringe at the videos I have seen instructing you to remove the front label (or worse poke holes through them). You just have to be careful to ease it open (helps if you undo all the screws first too ;)).

If you can’t get the AV mod, there’s the PICO9918 VGA but maybe that’s a bit too much for a console you won’t be keeping
