Has this got an enhanced sound chip? The music is superb . The game is great also.

Yep, Parodius cartridge had Konami SCC audio chip embedded

Yep one of the Konami games with a SCC FM sound chip I the cartridge really makes a huge difference to the music and allows the sound effects to effectively have dedicated channels on the internal sound chip while the music plays uninterrupted.

So cool..i never clicked that Parodius started on MSX . This is the only konami msx shmup i haven't got yet

I highly recommend you find a copy no where near as expensive as the others. It did take me a while to find this complete copy at the time though (about 6 years ago I think).

I think I'm just about as good at this game as you are ;) The only Konami MSX games I finished without cheating are Metal Gear and Vampire Killer. Parodius, the Gradius series, USAS, and the list goes on and on. All are amazing games, and all that in just 128 KB each. Intro, game, music, end demo, easter eggs, everything in 128 KB.

It still amazes me how the authors fit so much game, graphics, music and of course gameplay into such small cartridges. And the Konami team made sure to get everything they could out of the hardware. I have a few more smaller games to finish off then I am going to try something a bit bigger :)
