My favourite plane, and it crashed in front of my little eyes at Culdrose, 10 years ago, which is shocking. I hope to meet up and sit in her once again in the future. My logo is also her propeller...

I worked on USAF aircraft for over 20 years and for several years with Martin-Marrietta at the MacD. Aircraft Company as a subcontractor on Apache's and never saw any of this kind of repair work. I find it fascinating to mutter the least. 👾

Lovely little jet from another age, watched it fly some years, ago at a UK display and was quite taken by its good looks and performance, such a shame that its day is done as far as flight goes... edit, just googled and the plan is she may well fly again 😃

My father served on the carrier, The Ocean in the Mediterranean and had a great admiration for this wonderful aircraft. The swordfish was a worry to the Germans with it's slow quiet speed on approach and attack. Getting back to the carrier wasn't an easy task, in fact, the swordfish couldn't return most of the time. Brave men, pilots.

Just finished the program on the original restoration of W5856 on Dronescapes and on further research was very happy to see that she was still being cared for, still airworthy, and even had to have another refurbishment. Also interesting to see the difference in reassembly techniques between this and it's reassembly in 1993.

Military helicopter formation flying is a brand NEW aviation art AND JUST like the Blue Angels - The United States Navy Sharks lead the way - the first military helicopter aerobatic team! Wow! You're going to see helicopter maneuvers that rival and scare hell outta their fixed wing cousins. But is this just an excuse for Navy shows to boost enlistment? - N O ! Multiple helicopters on a single but complex mission definitely need predetermined formation maneuvers for coordinated operations of size, complexity, depth and force

The British managed to have one of the best helicopter-flying display teams in the world. Thank you for sharing this brilliant video. I have seen it live, at the time I did not video, just photographing helicopters from 1985 till today.

There's nothing like seein' a he-lo doing a loop as shown here. Next year, I'd like to see a Shark pull an outside loop, but at higher altitude for safety sake. But wait, these loops are at low altitude, about the tightest aerodynamically possible without the loss of a single foot of altitude, on point - at high (combat) speed within a series of useful maneuvers of all types that fixed wing aircraft cannot do, (but sure want to and would if they could). Top training, support, and equipment makes this miraculous mastery of the sky possible, a peerless joy to behold and great credit to Naval airmanship AND humanity too, since 1903; "None finer". Fly Navy! See ya next year - at Pensacola!

Your video showing this assembly was very good! I liked the improvisation in several points and the content of the colors used! The AIM-9 was simple to make and turned out really cool! I noticed that you like to make models in flight... I also like it a lot. Beautiful work! Congratulations! 👍

It's occured to me that this anacronistic looking aircraft worked because it had the qualities of an attack helicopter. Not fast, but highly manouevrable and ideal for ship based operation. It can almost hover in a headwind!

Love this - but then... I'm a fan of dark roasts, so.... My previous morning goto was Taylor's Javan.... but now I prefer this - It's from the same part of the world (Sumatra), and a little smoother than Taylor's. Also love the 'Just Jane' Lancaster brew - another dark roast.

Awesome to think that one of these stopped a 45000 ton behemoth, Bismarck, so that the Royal Navy could sink her. And the Bismarck was cutting edge naval technology then. The attacks on the Italian fleet at Taranto and Bismarck was the beginning of the end for the battleship as a capital ship. Awesome restoration of this iconic aircraft.

Hi.. to cut along story short my gran wrote her name and address on the underside of the swordfish while working on the wings during ww2 in donibristle Fife...the plane survived the war and her name was found years later while BAE systems down south was restoring the plane.. long story to be told.. But the plane was serial number NF389.. I am let to believe the sword number W5856 is flying again with the wings off NF389 that my gran wrote on.. Has anyone got any pictures of the as I'm up north in Scotland and am hoping to visit the air museum some day

Bear in mind that Navy Wings at Yeovilton and the fleet air arm museum are separate places. For an aircraft flying with Irish linen wing fabric the fabric will likely have been repaired or replaced many times during it's lifetime I'm afraid, most likely during the restoration you mentioned. However it's a fantastic connection you have there, your family should be very proud.
