i’m dumping this here bc i have nobody to tell, but i’m writing a DND campaign for my best friends that i’ve had my whole life, and the final boss is a cosmic entity that has been pushing them towards completing his goal the entire time. i plan on using the original song throughout the story to make it sentimental towards them, and then i’m gonna drop this banger for the boss fight to make them realize that all the happy memories they created thinking they were helping people were actually dooming the entire world. thank you for making the perfect remix to complete my vision

Hey Soaralot, I am recreating Chinese inside Fortnite as a small project, is it ok to use this track as the music? Love it a lot! If yes, lmk what license should I write in the credits (google Creative Commons licenses and let me know). Thanks and stay awesome!
@SoaralotMusic2 ай бұрын
That's absolutely fine, go ahead! Sounds like a fun project. I'd love to see it when it's done. In terms of credit, the music for TimeSplitters 2 was done by Graeme Norgate. I don't know all that much about these licensing but crediting him should be fine.
@Wertandrew2 ай бұрын
@@SoaralotMusic Gotcha! He didn't give me permission to use the original, but if you are fine then I can use this one! I ll credit you under CC4 (attribution), which means you ll be in the attribution tab of the game. Sure thing, I can post here once its released. Thanks for letting me use this music, its going be fire inside the game!

As someone who'd already had the Dragon Ash song in my head _before_ you even uploaded this song the first time, I honestly didn't make the connection! I don't think you need to feel shame at all in hearing the chords of a song that moves you, and using those same chords in a song of your own. Hans Zimmer himself has some great quotes on how it's pretty much impossible not to accidentally copy things that came before, like even the simple main line of Beethoven's 5th. And even when done on purpose, it's more okay than you think. Dragon Ash didn't invent those chords. They weren't the first to use them, either. There have been millions of songs in the history of music, even since the invention of recording, and nothing is truly "new" anymore. Someone, somewhere, can claim plagiarism on anything ever made, because there's only so many notes, and all creations are inspired by what we already know. If you truly still feel ashamed at the connection, then just say "Inspired By Shizuka Na Hibi No Kaidan Wo by Dragon Ash" (or "Tribute to..." etc.). This is done all the time and it's perfectly legal, perfectly acceptable, and perfectly honest. But like I said, I already knew that song and I didn't even recognize the connection, so it's not like it's something obvious to a layperson like a straight-up cover or ripoff would be. Even more, there is actually great value in learning via "tracing" something, which is how I'd put it. I had an old official learn-to-draw-comics book made by Marvel, and it _specifically_ had full page art of Hulk, Spider-Man, etc., with tracing paper inserted before it, and you were literally instructed by Marvel Comics to learn how to draw by tracing their IP's. It massively helped me figure out how to draw correct proportions, perspectives, and curves and hands and faces and all that hard stuff I'd struggled with. _And it's the same with music._ Finding it hard to figure out impactful chord progression? Pick a song that moves you, and make a song with the same chords! I'm positive that in the process of making "The Times We Had," you leveled up your understanding of music in many ways which your shame might be locking away, stunting your satisfaction and growth as an artist. Personally, I remember the video well. I still have the song downloaded on my iPod (and the Battle Royale song, too). You did a great job making the tune your own, and this song definitely deserves to stay here. Allow yourself to be free from that shame. As for the video itself... taking it down and reuploading the song, I understand. It sucks you got lied to by that Fiverr scammer. The video was beautiful, though. Maybe you could reach out to the original creator, tell them your story, and ask if you could use their footage in your small channel's music video? Worst case, they just say no.
