Cool! I have basically a modern version of this setup. I have somewhat newer modules (still pretty much identical to the original ones), an RF receiver module, and an old thin client computer with a USB adapter and software controlling them all. I also have a couple of the handheld remotes for lamps and things I want to control manually. I made waterproof boxes out of cheap plastic ammo cans for a couple that are outside in the yard running Christmas lights and that works great too

what kind of battery do you use to replace the old one?
@TheHazardousMaterials
@TheHazardousMaterials Ай бұрын
I don’t have a specific part number for a new one as I simply left the battery out. However it is very likely a NiCd type of a particular voltage and mAh rating. You’ll need to get the old one out, see what it says and go from there via a Google search. I’m sure something’s available.

Cool Tinkeritis project! :) Another idea would be a pair of contacts to "steal power" from the track-change solenoid contacts! An LM78L05 a couple caps, and a series diode to give you 4.4V for the BT board, and there you go! No more batteries! It shouldn't draw anywhere near enough current to bother the solenoid in the player. :) (Maybe a bridge rectifier between the contacts and regulator, because different units may have different polarities!)

Is a BMC 550 worth $25? I found one on Facebook marketplace and it's in pretty good condition with the original case but it doesn't have the power adapter but I have the one for my BMC 110 Also, I wonder if the reason the Betamovie tube cameras appear to be "dead" is maybe not the tube but maybe the circuitry that drives the tube and processes the image. Have you ever tried scoping the preamp of the tube? And the deflection signals? Could be that
@Tapes1982

I would say absolutely. Avoiding shipping also prevents the delicate carry handle from getting smashed to bits too.
@Tapes1982

I tried that a few years back including swapping a “bad” tube into a good camera with no luck. As I recall the signals looked fine otherwise. I’d like to be proven wrong. Since I switched to the CCD models I never looked back, not for my own use anyhow.

That's right. Of course, it seems that the speed is slow or fast due to a defective tantalum capacitor. Adjustments were also required after replacement when recording.

@Tapes1982
@Tapes1982 10 ай бұрын
It might be worth noting that by ‘85 the ECM also controlled ignition timing to some extent. Where the orange and purple wires used to run right to the distributor pickup, one of those now runs back to the passenger kick panel/ECM for timing control, then back up to the distributor. Also you probably have pulse air injection vs an air pump like the earlier years. I rebuilt this system on my ‘86 Eagle once but PA doesn’t do a tailpipe test on an ‘86. Well not yet anyway haha

The fast forward has always more torque on these machines because the reel drive belt underneath stretches a bit, and only one idler tire is used. In rewind the belt doesn't stretch and both idlers are used. I would also take the shine off of the upper drum. That causes the tape to drag as well. You can see where the tapes have left a wear mark on the drum over the years.
@Tapes1982
@Tapes1982 Жыл бұрын
That would certainly explain the torque difference. I don’t usually touch the upper drum on the 3 piece drums but yeah there is certainly wear present and it would only help. Thanks for the info!
@ehgriffith

I would have probably cleaned the idler tires as well, the torque is a bit low for rewind. But this is a great machine. Quality is excellent, and with good alignment will produce an excellent picture.
