Rover P5b Coupe with full headrests, rear seatbelts, and upgraded Walnut everywhere. Almost impossible to buy one of these nowadays. But has to be in Admiralty Blue with Buckskin light interior. AMAZING CAR!!

Lovely car with sumptious thrones. Can see why the Queen kept one for personal driving. Gotta love the driving comparison of the very proper British motorcar, the hopeless Trabant and the lime green Cadillac land yacht - all of similar vintage.

These Rovers were the choice of executives and bank managers back in the day. If you owned one of these or a Jaguar you had made it in life. Great to think back to when I was a teenager, thanks for this video.👍👍

Persistant power steering leaks is why my father sold his 1969 P5B. He can't have got much for it because it was replaced by a 1974 Hillman Hunter. Arrgh!

And on a trip from Whanganui to Wellington (New Zealand) one Sunday night, at 90mph wind noise was not excessive. By far the loudest noise was induction roar

Wouldn't have thought a car would have power steering at that age. Looks pretty good to drive

Back in the late 70s would you believe it but a driver at our local Taxi company drove one of these everybody used to phone in and ask for the guy with the big Rover

I think these cars would still sell today. A wee bit heavy on the juice though.

Just amazing! The SD1 dashboard was soo ahead of it's time, just current brands are copying the layout.

Many thanks for this, Andrew. I've hankered after one of these for years... Could you tell me, please, what music were you using? It wasn't, by any chance, from "The Man Who Haunted Himself" was it? Subbed.

Just about the last perfect British car. I bought one back in 1977 for £60! Gorgeous it was, my friends called me Lord Snooty as I wafted past them in their nasty Fords.

I had a test drive in a used P5b in the 70's , made affordable by the oil crisis. Lovely car , nearly came a cropper going too quickly on a country bend due to not being used to the power and relative silence. I was a student at the time and was unsure whether I could afford the running costs. After sleeping on it I decided to pass , shame.

Just noticed, the ammeter should be 60 amps for the P5b. Perhaps someone has fitted a P5 gauge at some stage.

What a beautiful car, better than anything I would want to buy today. Roger Moore drove one identical to this one in the 1970 film, "The man who haunted himself". I watched it as a child and loved the car then. The memory of this great film has stuck with me ever since.

Thank you! The interior was retrimmed by a local company located in Linz, Austria.
