Random question. I’ve put Porsche brakes on my T4 after seeing you video. Do you know the sims of your wheels as the 18”s I have on need 5 mm spacers. Thanks

@@duncanhobin8145 I have 17x9, ET23 so they poke out a fair bit. Make sure you run the Creations 3mm spacers to clear the hub centre, or grind the hub down to the T4’s inner 57mm center bore as the Merc discs centres are thinner than T4 ones and inner hub height.

@ ET and rim width determines the +/- poke the wheel has, but if you can, get alloys that are suited to big brakes with more clearance in the design from the hub face to the back of the spoke. Good luck 😎👍

Guessting you can fit the vr6 t4 pads so they cover the disc noriced you had a space on the inside of new disc so wasted surface with the original pads.

why not a 0a5 gearbox?? no adapter plate, stronger gearbox from stock. 02q flywheel and rs3 clutch and it fits

0A5 doesn’t tuck under the bulkhead and allow the drive flanges to sit inside the front subframe gaps for the NS inner CV. 02M also keeps costs down on shafts. T5 is a much easier van to swap engines into, lots more space and wider front subframe clearance

Yeah it will be great to take it down, last time it was only 298bhp without the LSD so it should be a lot faster, especially on some sticky drag tyres.

Did you use brush on Hammerite to paint the control arms as well, or something else? I'm making a start on my lower arms today. Had the poly bushes for a couple of years. Just picked up a blowtorch and some gas and ordered a cheap reciprocating saw from eBay. I wasn't looking forward to this job as I don't have a press, but you have inspired me. Hopefully, it is as straightforward as you made it look. 🤞

Yes, melt them out, wire brush/blast, then paint or spray Hammerite on, then just put the new ones in! Let me know how you got on mate 😎👍

@SpeedingTube Thanks. All done! I now see one pair of sleeves are already in two halves, quick tap with a hammer and screwdriver, and they are out. The other pair I followed your example. The reciprocating saw hasn't arrived, so I used a large hacksaw to cut through and release the pressure. Just need to drop them in at the sandblasting place up the road. These are the original VW arms. They were taken off about 4 years ago. The replacements have only done 10k miles. The N/S/F lower rear bush has split. Sounds terrible. It was always my intention to polybush the van so I''ve got the full kit ready to go on, along with new discs, pads, calipers, backing plates, brake hoses, steering knuckles, wheel bearings, hubs, shock absorbers. I've been hoarding 😂 I'd love to drop the subframe, but not an option right now. Thanks again for this video. I was dreading removing those bushes and sleeves. Thanks to this video, it only took about an hour. 👍

just wondering more about your concerns with a dog box. I have a four speed Front wheel drive trans in an american car. Same idea face tooth engagement with no synchros. The only real worry is that it's rough going in. as long as you're firm And don't pussyfoot, you're fine. It's always going in to the next gear. It's a bit rough for the street, if you're not looking for feel of a race car and the noise of straight gears etc. What do you believe the issues to be?

Hi, thanks for commenting. To answer your question. I've got a few friends that have used dog internals on the VW 02M setup and they have had numerous issues. It could be box specific, user error, etc but by keeping it synchro I've kept it a bit simpler.

Sounds like the van is never going to stop evolving, and why not. You'll be keeping us entertained for years to come. Eventually Leo will take over and it will just keep going. 😂 You made getting those bushes out look easy. I've seen others really struggle getting the sleeve out. Good to see Autostyl have come up with a weld in solution for those mounting brackets. I see they also fabricate the reinforcement plates for where the upper part of the rear shocks mount. Mine has gone on the offside, so good to know there is a ready fix.

Yeah, it’s a fun platform to keep pushing as it’s all new/custom and different with each challenge. Leo wants an Impreza or Supra, so in 5 years we’ll start looking for a “project” car that he can fix up. I’m so lucky to have Autostyl just down the road, great place to help out and in return learn skills. Plus Ant is a top chap with good banter.

Yes, as mentioned in this video we’re finalising a few little bits. My kit is aimed at performance based users so will come with a custom baffled sump. That’s the final piece of the puzzle we’re working on right now 😎👍

Hi Andrew. Yes, we are but we're doing custom sumps first with built in baffles for track use as there are a few 400bhp+ T4's being built out there. Mocking up KO4 downpipes etc. Exciting stuff. All nearly down now, just had lots of details to work out for optimum fit and usability etc

Thanks dude, I will keep the channel going but it’s more for car/family memory days out like this now, there sadly just aren’t enough local cars to make it viable to produce regular content and grow the channel so I stopped trying and now just do it for fun. Love the E55! My CLS55 was great but if I had my time again I’d go for an E55, aged much better with classic/retro Merc looks. The Eurocharged headers and smaller pulley livened it up loads, well worth doing if you can 😎👍 I have the Eurocharged remap cable in the shed, welcome to have it if you like for when you do upgrades.
