The problem with CGI is that the end result is very artificial and has nothing to do with photography. An example is the official wallpapers from Ferrari, which look worse than, for example, the models in the Gran Turismo game. Nothing can replace real photos. Unfortunately, companies want to save money on everything and soon Midjourney will be making all the materials :/

I love your description of Jeff Ludes’ images. I’ve worked as a retoucher for Jeff for over 10 years, and I learned a ton from him. We always strived for authenticity while pushing the images to be just a little more beautiful than reality and, of course, super clean. He’s definitely one of the best. Great video as always!

All very good points and advices. I would like to add the fact that, is not always a must having someone else retouching your work. By building your own style, and do your own retouching, clients would hire you for the fact that is your own style and not someone else who does for other maybe 20+ photographers exactly the same. If you are too busy shooting and not much time for retouching, that's all good, hire a retoucher, or increase your fees and do less work so you have time to retouch your own work as well. You will charge as a retoucher as well not just photography.
@ThePhotographyRebuttalАй бұрын
Retouchers (at least the ones who work i advertising) don't simply do whatever they want. They are under the constant direction of the photographer who guides through the process. While there is no rule saying photographers must hire retouchers, ad agencies often want the best work possible, and most photographers are not that great at retouching.

Always amazing information. One of my biggest dreams as a photographer to get hired by a larger brand for a full size campaign. I will say, The hardest part of this seems to be the building the team. Do you do most of this online? Or do you find these professionals by asking people in person through your normal activities?

As a photographer who embraces the art of natural light, I've witnessed the transformative power of modern camera technology. With larger sensors, enhanced low-light capabilities, and refined image processing algorithms, today's cameras can beautifully capture scenes in even the dimmest of environments. This means I can focus on harnessing the nuances of natural light rather than relying on artificial sources, resulting in images that exude authenticity and depth.

Picture quality is the meat and potatoes. Features are the icing on the cake. Most photographers have more camera than they need. Wildlife and sports are the most difficult. You usually only get one chance at the money shot and you have to nail it.

Great video! I shoot both photo and video and use constant light for both. You talked about over sampling to reduce noise. Can you explain how you do that? Is it done in LR or PS?
@ThePhotographyRebuttal2 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! Oversampling to reduce noise is a technique where you capture images or footage at a higher resolution and then downscale it. This can help eliminate noise and improve overall quality. I simply down res in Photoshop and then apply noise reduction (if necessary).
