I'm also of a middle class/upper-middle-class upbringing and my husband and I are living the middle-class life as both our parents did and are living while in retirement. I think when I share thoughts and ideas that's outside of the box, people tend to view it with such scrutiny, or caution as though what I'm saying is so far-fetched when really it's more about calculated risk versus throwing caution to the wind.
