Don't throw away those "little bitty ones". They won't keep, but make a delicious side dish cooked in beef gravy or used whole in stews or soups. This being just May, for you, I'd replant potatoes.

Another get video buddy. We tried canning sweet potatoes once, we had such bad siphoning, but we may try it again this fall.

Thanks man! Yea it happens sometimes! Best way to avoid it is to let the canner cool completely down which can take 4-5 hours

@@brianwebb7109 the best way is obviously a root cellar, but we don’t have those here so the best way I find for myself is a spare closet in a spare room that I have it works for me or you can, can them up and put in your pantry! Plus if I have any left I let them green sprout and by that time it’s near February so I replant those!

I’ve never done mine that way. We do it very similar, but we add a small amount of chicken broth to make it cook quicker. And I guess that’s why I refer to ours as smothered potatoes and you call your potato hash. Yours is probably a lil more crispy, whereas mine would be more not crispy. lol

Yes I make smothered potatoes or potato gravy also usually with a smoked sausage in it and serve over white rice, the potato hash is really good with a fried egg over it and yolk runny! ☺️

@@Smalllouisianahomestead1979 I bet those potatoes are awesome with fried eggs. Now, the smothered potatoes with sausage, I have a video on that, we call it Poor Man’s Hash. A pot of that and some crusty french bread is one of my favorite meals. Great video. 👍🏻

Oh man…I’m from Louisiana (Lafayette) too (not a stalker…I can hear it in ya bah) but live in San /Diego currently. Was craving some fried okra yesterday, but this hits the spot in my mind. I can smell it and taste it through the screen. Reminds me of home….😥👍🏼

I've had mines for a couple of years. They were sent as a gift for buying these plants online. They produce a lot, and grow very tall, but they've never bloom. I've tried everything to encourage a bloom, but nothing. Not 1 flower ever 😒

Thats funny,,, I'll be doing the same thing this weekend. Oh my wow, I use a pole saw to reach the tops also. Except mine is an orange-colored saw. Nice looking pears.

Yeah this rain is horrible. Mosquitos are also really bad. My figs also are going to have a really weird late season crop. Nice coop. You got a nice place over there. Look at ole I10 in the background.

Nothing like a fresh yard egg. One of my chickens just started laying. Any day now the rest should start. Thank you for sharing your planting techniques and schedule. Hopefully we both have a successful season. The heat has definitely reduced my harvest. Do you compost? What method?

And yes the shade cloth first year I’ve used it and it has saved my plants I’ll never go back to not having it on for summer but as the fall comes I take it off the sun isn’t as intense during those later months! Keep me updated if you get one!
