Long muscle length isometric contractions may be more effective than short muscle length isometric contractions to increase force (and my be power as well) at short and long muscle lengths.

It is a great recommendation by Prof Herzog that older people should care for muscle strength and power than endurance. Resistance training is more important for older than younger people!

It is a great discussion on eccentric training. It appears that even slow eccentric contractions are effective for improving power. Thus, I think that eccentric training is important for older individuals.
