Wonderful! Victor gets it. It’s still about the FEEL. It’s also Ringo’s World ~ we’re just riding his Shining Time Train! 2 great cats talking and playing together!👏🏽

A true artist in his own right. What a player. I love the Trixon kit. The great Phil Seamen was Trixon guy, amongst others.

God how I love watching this!! Hey @JakeReedMusic , I have to ask how you ended up with the Raising Sand drum set? What possessed Jay to let it go? Thanks for this inspiration and a great channel !

I really like these interviews, and I hate to be that guy, but I think it would be nice with some more snippets of drumming interwoven with the talking. It makes a really good jumping off point for interesting discussions. Happy new year!

That lesson was priceless on how Jeff Porcaro played the two and four backbeat behind the beat, amazing love that instruction!! No one has ever taught that.

What a wonderful and informative gift this interview is. I had the very good fortune of learning to play a shuffle in Tulsa Oklahoma where Keltner was influenced as much as he influenced, according to him. The interplay in the jam section was delightful to witness. I recognize the languages y'all shared and improvised together.

Is it really necessary to put loud snare sound when one of your guests says shit or fuck? Is this channel for kids? Aren't we over that by now? But the channel is great.

I am humbled. 25 years of playing drums and I haven’t even scratched the surface of what is possible with these incredible instruments. Drum set, percussion, our discerning ears and even how eloquently we communicate with our voices. Victor and Jake are both a fine reserve of human. Top shelf interview, Jake. With gratitude, Steve

No subwoofers...absolutely! And...years ago I played a concert at the Bowl with Peter and Christian McBride. The stage crew had set up a plexiglass sound baffle all around the drumset, and Peter said "No, this has to go". Yes! Great interview, Jake...even though I'm a guitarist I learn so much from these. Thanks...!

These are such amazing interviews. Jake is literally getting the best drummers in the world to sit behind a kit and talk drums openly like they’re talking to their buddy. So valuable.

Great to here discussion on click tracks and playing to them, especially when he talked about playing right on it for the verse, then laying back and other times on the leading edge. Also, my drum schooling was similar to his early schooling in the respect of only straight feel or swing feel, so good to hear him talk of percentage of swing feel, no one ever taught me that. Excellent to hear his approach to playing with a click track.

Great interview Jake!! I appreciate the conversations that you and Victor provided. May I ask what that ring is called on Victor's floor tom? All of the drums sounded wonderful!

@jakereedmusic this is incredible. I was surprised how much he was willing to break down his playing. This is so much more than a “video podcast” Thank you!!! Honestly this like a new era / new classic instructional videos ala old school DCI videos, etc. The amount of learning / info in here is mind blowing! 🙌🙌

Had the pleasure of working with Victor a bunch in the mid 2000s. Dude was the first LA session drummer I got to watch play, and became the standard I judged all other drummers by. Also the nicest guy in the world!
