Are there silvers like roach ect in there ! There feeding stimulates other fish ! Or dose it !?
@BPMillingКүн бұрын
There are, we do see Perch come into shot occasionally, but even they are not too keen to feed! Cormorants most likely keep the silvers in hiding.

How about if you have lots of silvers that you cant remove....are boilies more selective in that scenario?
@BPMillingКүн бұрын
They can be, but the same issue is the cost efficiency, the risk of the boilies turning rancid and becoming associated as toxic food items. As fishery managers you're responsible for the health of the whole biomass, all species included. So it's naive to think that you can feed a healthy population of carp which co-exist with a population of silvers which you're aiming to starve. All these freshwater fish are liable to the same health threats, infection and disease so to maintain a healthy fishery, you need to look after the fishery as whole, not just 1 of the species within that ecosystem.

Shocked how long the maggots stayed alive, would have been interesting to see if they'd have taken floaters when ignoring bottom food.
@BPMillingКүн бұрын
I thought that too! I think floaters might have been a tall order with the water temperatures! Tricky to film too! 😂

For me, it’s the spot. The spot is EVERYTHING! Like you say, they were feeding on an area before Ol boaty Mc boat face cruised in making a racket! 😆😉 It looked like the boat just drifted past where they were comfortable feeding. Where the bait/camera was placed could be a couple feet difference, different substrate and importantly different water temperature. For me, had the bait been placed bang on the feeding zone then I recon you’d have seen a different reaction.
@BPMillingКүн бұрын
Quite possibly! Perhaps I priorities the quality of the footage over the likelihood of getting fish to feed. Even so, I'd have put money on the maggots provoking some kind of response at least!
@Kingofmasterz2 күн бұрын
How many were the same fish coming back for more is what I’d like to see,as sightings don’t mean it’s different fish on the spot.

@alexbrown66243 күн бұрын
When the temperature hits a certain point lm pretty sure they switch right off had you did this in the summer it would have gotten smashed to pieces, a few chopped worm 🪱 bits threaded on around a pop up or zig and bang it gets taken ! But it may take a bit of time as the window of feeding is far less ? Go pike fish for a few hours in the depths of winter if you need a 🎣 fish as l get older lm not so keen to freeze 🥶 my bits off ! And waste money on buckets of maggots and worm !

@BPMillingКүн бұрын
Thank you! The shock was that zero fish fed on the maggots despite moving over and around the spot! Shocked that the maggots and worms were still very active after 24 hours and shocked about how inquisitive of me and the boat they were even at these temoperatures! 🥶 If you're still not shocked, lick the end of one of them rectangular batteries.

The maggots look shocking mate. Unriddled on the turn and still in the maize from when bought. They would have been stinking I bet. You carp lads need to watch match men prepare maggots if you are going to use them how to keep ,clean and riddle them. A little and often approach is the way to go too. You could learn a lot from match men about building a swim too. Also if its cold for a long time eventually they will start behaving normally but as things change so often it no good at all however a degree increase in winter is better than a degree decrease in summer.
@BPMillingКүн бұрын
Interesting! I did wonder if that could be a reason. It was filmed over christmas, so perhaps the maggots weren't as fresh as they could have been? I still didn't expect that to make this much of a difference, maybe i was naive?!
@162tsb7Күн бұрын
@BPMilling its a huge thing to be aware of ask match men how to keep and clean them fish can smell the amonio even when we cant. So imagine how they react when its strong enough for us to smell.

Hi great video really enjoyed it. I'm a commercial carp match angler. We do not feed any bait in the winter and catch all our carp with single hook baits. We've had a few new match anglers join who automatically start feeding large pots of bait. These guys always end up blanking.

So why wouldn't you fish where they were feeding?
@BPMilling3 күн бұрын
We weren't fishing, just filming for educational purposes. If I was fishing and i'd found fish feeding like we did on the drone, then I'd fish for them where they're feeding, but if we had tried to set up a camera where they were feeding then the footage would be poor because the fish were feeding in the silt which compromised water clarit which is obviously very important when underwater filming. 😁

@BPMilling I've been carp fishing since the late 80s long before social media so I've had enough of product's being rammed down my throat evey time I watch content, so felt the need to mention how refreshing it was to watch you content, what did make me laugh was you mentioned that you go to the same shop for years, I used to go to a little shop just like you but when it was shut I could go to the owners house and buy my maggots, when he opened the front door you got the full stench of maggots hit you, the good old days 😂

Great insight , I really enjoyed it👍 Is that a Dji mini 2 se and has it got a polarized lens ? I've got a mini 2 se but struggling to find a polarized lens that fits it.
@BPMilling3 күн бұрын
No I believe it's a mavic air 2, no polarised lense but i've played with the colours in the edit which give it that polarising effect just as good as a lens would naturally. I'll probably upgrade the drone this year though. They're getting so much better every year!

Do you plan to sell bigger pellets? 16, 18 or 20 mm for instance? Large pellets are way better when using a catapult because you can continuously feed at range without trashing the water with a spod. Also, no one is selling large fast breakdown pellets. There’s a massive gap in the market.
@BPMilling3 күн бұрын
Potentially, watch this space... 😜
@ApexCypher_3 күн бұрын
@ I will be 🤩 🙏🏼 I used to be able to get large fast breakdown pellets but the company stopped offering them. I’ve tried other big pellets but they don’t work in the same way. They have to be fast breakdown to get the quick feeding response. I would put in a kilo then wait for the first bite. Then top up as needed. They were an absolute game changer. I’ve never found anything like them in the last 26 years of looking 😀

@svenr52353 күн бұрын
@BPMilling If you just had your English breakfast and I chuck some maggots in front of you, then you wouldn't eat them I guess. How often do they get caught and how often do they see boats? Then a new obstacle on the feeding spot. It's all suspicious. Plus colder water and enough natural food. That's what I'm thinking. Good video, never seen them so nosy.

Id like to see how BP pellets with your oil go down. I think the fish would respond to that as bait as its a house feed and its helping to keep them free of parasites. During the winter months for the carp its all about health care right?

not a Carp angler but to me the amount of bait looked like it spooked them or at least made them very wary you said you do feed the fish to encourage the fish to feed do you use the same bait if not then that lot would look very suspicious one thing which struck me was whilst fish were feeding it was only a couple of fish from what looked like a lot of decent Carp
