Please tell me you're not stupid enough to believe a Chinese flagged ship that set sail from a Russian port, with a Russian Captain, somehow managed to cut undersea cables via a (careless anchor). Jeez.

It's pretty clear that it was done by the Chinese ship that was tracked at the places of the sabotage. Last year 2023 in October a Chinese ship going to Russia dragged one of its anchors and cut of a gas pipeline and data cables between Finland and Estonia. So is it that hard to figure out what happen with this Chinese ship that passed these cables at the time they were destroyed. So, what would China gain from such thing? Not much at all but who will is Russia, what this shows is how deep in bed Russia and China is. And another little fun fact, the Chinese ship that did this had a Russian Captain. So anyone doubting who is behind this, well go figure.

The reason they're not better protected is because that would make them far more expensive and more difficult to repair. When they're just lying on the floor they can be comparatively cheaply picked up and patched. Even if some horrible people are sponsoring the vandalism, these are private property sometimes in international waters. I don't think it's a national forces matter until the properties' owners can prove that it's state-sponsored militancy.
