It's indeed brave of you to share this video, especially if you have high expectations of yourself - but it's really helpful and motivating (and gives a giggle). Who hasn't been in these situations when the dog happily wants to greet everyone during training and you feel as superfluous as an old plastic bag and at the same time have to remain a calm and fair leader. And I'm sure everyone knows these annoying moments when the dog just forgets that you even exist, simply having a good time and you have to control yourself. BUT the way you deal with this situation shows your professionalism and despite Toph's touching cheerfulness (OK - at the wrong moment 😅) the skills of both of you are at a high level. The most beautiful thing is to see that - in your protected frame and with your loving, skilled, experienced guidance - your dogs are allowed to blossom with love, joy and dignity. All of you - you and your family and your team are making the earth a better place! 💯

You cut off your end commentary kind of like a cliffhanger. Yes, you are hyper critical of yourself, those judges have forgotten how many dogs they've seen poo during trial over the years, but she passed, and you know what needs work. Just a random idea, before they go out can you wet the back of their neck fur to cool them down during the trial? Are your dogs trained to potty on command? I train mine to access test standards and relieving on command is one of the standards.
@MalinoisMadness2 ай бұрын
Yeah they go on command. She pooed 2 times 30 mins prior. You can wet them, I am sure, not a bad idea at all. We are our worst critics for sure. Thank you for your support. Back in the lab with her changing a lot up to fix my engagement issues with her.

You should be able to retake the BH for a better score. Did they call you out early only to have you wait in the sun? Regardless they should have set up a shaded canopy for the teams to wait out of the sun just in case. If there's other competitions in your area it might be worth the time to take your dogs there and train with them, so they'll get used to everything. I think you were harder on yourself than need be, they're young and the heat is a huge factor. I still have my sights set on Maxine's French Ring Brevet in fall of 2025, she's having some unresolved issues like she detonates ☢when a person outside of the family bends down to pick up something off the ground, I don't want her eating the judge for lunch😬. Did you ever see that reply explaining the crazy way I got injured because an idiot had their staffy in a harness and flexilead, YT had an issue with it, but I posted it anyway.
@MalinoisMadness3 ай бұрын
Thanks, it's just kind of how the situation flowed, it's not a big deal cause it's a pass fail so no need to do it again. Just focusing on his 1. Once you report in that's what you have. No biggie. No I did nit see your other comment I will look for it. I always appreciate your thoughts. I hope you can get your dog to not maul up the judge, thats always a real problem. Thank you for watching like always.

@@MalinoisMadness I'll send it to your email, YT has a problem with my descriptive language 😳, but I lost three plus months recovering. I have chronic pain and my pulled muscles and whiplash from the event set off an inflammatory response. Anyway, parts of the story are pretty funny. Then a month ago her dog (after seeing my dogs in a fenced yard this time) immediately pulled her off her feet and onto her knees then her stomach on a road that was tarred and graveled last year, she was screaming at her dog who wouldn't listen, I finally got my pound of flesh. These force free people though, they're unbelievable.

@@MalinoisMadness Yes, I'm trying to get over an injury from about three months ago. I know this is long but you can "burn after reading, lol. This woman who lives in my neighborhood (she weighs maybe 110 pounds at most soaking wet) had her large untrained Staffordshire mix in a damn harness (designed for pulling??) that was attached to an almost fully let out flexi-lead, they were about 60 feet away. It saw my two dogs, (a German pointer mix and a Malinois, both are trained for assisting me with mobility) They were in a sit/stay, her leash reactive staffy goes nuts lunging and barking at them as it starts to drag her across the street, and into a ditch (I yelled at her to control her effing dog, you dumb b*tch) where she'd by now lost her footing and by now was getting drug through the dirt and up the embankment to where I was, my dogs are still under my control but are pulling and barking to protect me. I'm yelling at her to get her f*cking dog under control (plus insert a barrage of my profanity and ad hominem insults) by now they were face to face barking angrily at each other by the time she got control of her dog and pulled it away from mine. There was no fighting between them. She's a "force free" nut who volunteers at the humane society, go figure. I never gave up ground because I had my dogs in prong collars and proper leashes and was able to restrain them during this altercation then get them back into a sit/stay. Due to her abject stupidity and ignorance, I was laid up injured with pulled muscles in my neck and back and nerve damage from the event which had aggravated my chronic pain and caused a inflammatory response prolonging my recovery. Even now over three months on I'm still so damn pissed off about this and seething, my two dogs were restrained, I've put hours of work into their training (they love to work), it all happened so fast, yet she is going about as if nothing happened, this imbecilic person doesn't work her dogs or train them. I would have sued her for some sort of damages and donated the money, but she is on Social Security and that can't be garnished, and she has no real property of value. Now I'm slowly getting back into it, my dogs have been so patient with me.

Starting at 1:26 Listen to the differences between both 'sit' commands, the first sit command was an 'ask' where your voice went up ever so slightly towards the end of your 'sit' while the second 'sit' command was a firm SIT! command, as were the latter ones. I know she should always obey a sit command without hesitation, but I can also understand the confusion in the moment. She's coming along quite nicely.

That's good to move the target, in French Ring's defense of handler the dog has to focus on the decoy without biting until the decoy "hits" the handler. He's shaping up nicely. I can't wait to get back into it, I've been recovering from an injury.

Is the first flag the scent pad? Showing just the best clips gives a new handler frustration and unreasonable expectations. It's good you can't see your track, that way the dog has to go by scent not sight. I've seen some dogs search the footprints not the scent. I really enjoy your content! Thanks!
