Wow, love coming across my old NS 60's childhood neighbor surfing school friend! Thank ❤ you for this wonderful interview ... as the decades keep passing us all by and us boomers pass on sooner or later ... all that Jock contributed to surfing becomes forgotten. And he was never about becoming famous, but was very shy. So it was everyone else around him whom became famous and are remembered most ... from this very special surfing era.

Awesome well explained he influenced my friends and me and lm glad we took on his free style and surfing isolation when we could Glad to see him on you tube and providing a good balance to surfing differences Good to see he is humble and his contentment You see so much more being away from the madding crowd Love ya bro

Probably paddle in. Buy a plane ticket out of there. Go surf cocos keeling, cook islands, norfolk island or any of the more unknown pacific islands. Indo is just a cheap place to try catch mellow reef breaks. The warmer the water the less dense it is and the softer it is. Maybe go surf Ireland. Always options.

Todd is why I started surfing. Several of my most memorable experiences involved Cheese, one of which was seeing Danzig in San Diego with Chesser, Howard, Shane, Ross, Mitsui, and Todd’s Jamaica Ct. roomie, Bob. Absolutely epic night🤘🏼

My first day surfing ever was at “Blackies” which I often referred to as 22nd Street as well. I remember my brother telling me what to do and leaving by myself with a 9’ foot longboard- mind you it was 1972! My brother left me at Blackie’s because 18th Street was firing and he wanted to get down there (* there was a South ) swell and his friends were already down there. His last words to me were, “Whatever you do DONT go down there - stay at Blackie’s!” I stood up that day - I was hooked! Tons of great memories.

I first met Hempy 15 years ago when he did a sound presentation at my college. He magnified the sounds of crickets and insects from deep crevices of the Earth! Then I read his book which changed the way I hear the world. He gave my sense of noise pollution. Then I started seeing him in the lineup at my local breaks. He was always so friendly and courteous - the man is amazing.
