G Greenough was the father of Vee bottom design just on a shorter board. Ironically the Fantastic Plastic Machine immediately started getting shorter and shorter with subtler rocker and rails just like George's kneeboards. Oh and of course his famous fish inspired fins! Bob like all shapers observed other surfers and what they rode and had the determination to try new shapes in the water himself and transfer the new shapes to foam.
