Chickadees are my fave. Also, I love the addition of the beads. Also, also, Canada would be a lot cooler if we'd actually had pennies with wee little flounders on them.

Aaaaa the piece with the chickadee is so pretty! I love that you played around with 3D parts and sewing onto it! I never even even thought of the ladder one! May try it myself :) ✨️🌿 Also I know the feelings all too well. I also have an immense fear of tax people which is why I am too scared to start my own business yet (help) You're definitely not alone in this! 💕

Hello may I ask something? I bought the same polymer clay but its still sticky and would leave shreds when I try to carve out the pattern. Is there a way to make it smooth like yours?
@YellowMelle17 күн бұрын
To be honest, I don't have a lot of experience with polymer clay, and would probably check reddit for the real answers. 😅

Thank you for sharing! This is what a sketchbook should look like. With all its creativity, experimentation, scribbeling, really nice drawings, colour, sketches, exercises, maybe collages etc. I think it is important to sometimes just do it. As, I think it was Picasso said: There is such thing as inspiration, but it has to find you working. Even if you don't feel like being creative, if you are used to grabbing pen/pencil and sketchbook when you want to express your feelings, then it starts to come naturally at some point and you get freer in your expression.

What kind of glue did you use
@YellowMelleАй бұрын
I probably used Tacky glue (which is just a thicker school glue) for most of the paper/wood parts, but switched to silicone glue (like E6000) for plastic windows or anything else that looked impossible to stick lol The newer kits seem to come with their own silicone glue now, thank goodness!

I think these kinds of sketchbooks are the most beautiful and thank you for sharing them with us! I completly understand the feeling of not liking what youve made or feeling like you didnt do well enough, but all of those feelings are just one persons subjective experience. If I had made almost any of the pages in this book I would be overjoyed and so proud even if you think they are some of your worst pages. I dont know, you probably dont need a pep talk but I just thought it was cool. Your art is wonderful and never fails to inspire, delight and amaze me :))

Can we just go back to that painting that turns? That is incredible! It moves? Like a clock? What? And that almost 3D cat that came shortly after? I'm obsessed with your work! You have a new fan and follower. Ugly sketchbook? I love it!
@YellowMelleАй бұрын
Yeah! the clock was such a pain in the butt, I'm a little regretful that it ended up feeling so delicate that I'm sure it'll stop turning pretty quick, but it's still going 1 or 2 years later 😊

@YellowMelle incredible! Kind of a metaphor for the delicate balance of time. I can imagine something similar done on a large scale with metal. Have you seen Ivan Iler's work? He works with metal creating pieces that have a lot of movement to them. Just a thought. I love your work and felt pulled to comment. Thanks for sharing your work!

Gorgeous. As a fellow artist, I like seeing all the process stuff, and it’s great seeing your planning along with inset images of what work developed from it. So much of what we see on social media is people sharing the most polished versions of their creativity, but I think there’s something so wonderful about seeing the steps leading up to the “finished version”. I love getting a feel for the thought process, and getting a feel for the artist behind the art. I love the “combining two things” approach you took to shifting stuck places in your creativity. And the results are so interesting and fun to look at. Thank you so much for sharing all of this. It reminds me of meeting up with a drawing pal and exchanging sketchbooks to have a look at each other’s beautiful and weird brains before we spend a few hours drawing together…
@YellowMelle2 ай бұрын

This was so inspiring to watch! I should also try and paint the mundane things I see. I live in a city so I always think there isn’t anything beautiful to paint (e.g nature.) but there’s nothing stopping me from painting buildings under the setting sun, or the trees which line the street. Thank you! ❤

I just love when you do this type of video. I really enjoy hearing your thought process that goes into one of your paintings. I remember having to do artist statements in school and hating it because it always felt so pretentious but I love hearing about where your inspiration comes from ❤ Also all I could think at the beginning was "of course Melle watched Stargate too" why did we have to grow up halfway across the country from eachother?

You did Great!!! A sign of a good artist!! You create art. The true artist can create art from all sorts of things. You may have fun creating your own colors from things in nature. Super fun watching you work!!! Awesome!!! Keep an open mind. You never know what you will discover!! Some color making ideas (a mortar and pestle work great. A good blender helps too.- just add some water): Flowers Bark (So many fun earth tones) Berries (amazing reds, and purples) Soil (grey, brown, red, black) Leaves (as fall comes you will get even more variety) Vegetables (Beets, Carrots, yellow squash outer flesh, green squash outer flesh, cucumber outer flesh) Blue Pea Flower (a personal favorite) *If you want to preserve some of your colors for later use white vinegar, or vodka. Store in small glass containers. Enjoy your day!!
