This sounds amazing! I've hit a lot of rocks, but never heard them ring like this. Are all the sounds from those rocks? To me it sounded like there was something like a kick drum as well.
@ieat31415923 күн бұрын
Thank you! There is only one exception, a water bottle. The kick drum sound is a rock! Is a really cool park and there aren’t many places in the world with ringing rock fields, so make it a stop if you’re in PA.

Beautiful work. Are you doing one of your guides on the IFM system???
@ieat314159224 күн бұрын
Thanks! When I was putting together the Sidrax guide, the Bounds/Bounce concept came together for me, so I'd definitely recommend checking out that section in the Sidrax guide (link in bio). Other than that, Peter's IFM manuals are great with a lot of detail. So I wasn't thinking about supplementing that since it's already pretty thorough. Also, I'm not really sure how I'd document within the euro system since its more variable than the semi-modular synths I've done so far.

Thank you, I plan to do more Tocantes in context as well. I recently used the Joranalogue Collide 4 as a preamp on a Tocante and found it to be an awesome pairing, so I'll probably use that in a future one.

Amazing, I'll be excited to hear it. Oo yeah I can imagine that's a great pairing, I've been thinking about a Bass Thyris or Bistab to ping a pair of Res EQs, so these vids are very handy.

@@mummermusic I've actually got a bass bistab and have been meaning to try pinging filters with it. It reminds me of touch activated rollz, esp the LFO rate ones.

hey, it's great to hear this work and see what patch layouts look like for these sounds. I would have loved to see this as a video, though. I'm super into a lot of the sounds Sidrax (and many of Peter's instruments) can make--and I'm also really annoyed by a bunch of them. My hesitation has always been on the grounds of wondering "is this a viable performance instrument for me? can I produce the sounds I wish to and avoid the ones I don't like?". I've seen a handful of performances with Peter B synths, and it's about 50/50 on whether I like it, but when I do, I love it. I think showing a top-down video of the performances might help a potential convert decide how reliably reproducible these gesture-based controls are. I guess you can do just about anything with practice!
@ieat3141592Ай бұрын
Thanks, it was new territory for me to tie in audio to the patches in the guide. I landed on this format because, well it’s all I know how to do since I’m not set up in anyway to record video. Ultimately I figure it’s all about the sounds so let the audio speak for itself. The other thing is that top down video can’t show the super subtle gestures used when playing Sidrax. It’s incredibly sensitive and I’ve found that playing it is all about using your ears, especially because of the release sound. About live performance, I don’t have experience playing it live, but if I did I’d be careful. Lastly, the fact that you hear things you love and hate coming out of CL speaks to their versatility. They are highly flexible and give you the freedom to make a wide variety of sounds you like. If you want to guarantee you don’t make sounds you hate live, then it’s all about practice as you said.

Which sequencer did you use ? The man of stream on the plumbbutter ?
@ieat3141592Ай бұрын
I used a 0-CTRL via the upcoming CrucFX SLM, but there are many other options. The main requirement is the sequencer is that it is unquantized and has enough voltage range. I think Meng Qi’s Voltage Memory would work or Serge TKB, but I don’t have either to test.

Same here, it’s not crazy far fetched either. Peter published an idea for a three dimensional rollz geometric shape that you’d hold and play with a glove. At least that’s how I understood it. Have to imagine that’d be like playing Ciat Lonbarde with a Nintendo power glove.

On the first and second sections, yes. I set up a Plumbutter patch and then played along with my guitar also going through Cocoquantus.
