There’s something about the ambiance in this scene that just gives a powerful feeling

What about red coats and bagpipes not uillean pipes screams Irish is more like Scottish.

Ah well. Id say it’s because it’s sung in the scene rather than being a background song.

Muireann? Tá céim agam sa Ghiotár agus dochtúir sa Spóirt. Mar sin rachaidh mé ar ais go Gaoth Dobhair i gcónaí. Barróg ó Fhlórans arís.

Táim ag lorg teach i nGaoth Dobhair, thuas i dTír Chonaill. Bhain mé céim amach sa Cheol ó Choláiste na Tríonóide, Baile Átha Cliath i 2001. Chomh luath agus a bheidh mé in airde, tá súil agam gur féidir liom bualadh leat, ar a laghad beidh oíche againn le chéile. Dia duit ó Florence.

Gleanntáin Ghlas Ghaoth Dobhair is not, though the air are similar to Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore, which definitive belongs of course to Paul Brady. I don't think Mairead NiMhaonaigh has Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore in mind when she is singing her father's song.

And I out late one afternoon far away by a fairy fort, I am asleep 'n don't wake me, I saw by my side the shiny heavenly woman. I am asleep 'n don't wake me. They were pearly falling curls, her waves (lit. branches) of hair that fell trembling to the groundand she was sending a sword through me that stung me [deep]. I am asleep'n don't wake me. 'Tis many the young boy that was forcefully taken off, I am asleep 'n don't wake me, that was put to slave away on the far side of the sea. I am asleep 'n don't wake me. Would that I see the day when the English (lit. Saxons) were bent over and they plowing and tilling for us, without me there, unless I would be offering them the plow! I am asleep 'n don't wake me.
