I use the 30-06 and 300 win mag mostly, I just stretch the distance a little and it slackens the hit energy to more "moral" levels. I also make good use of bows. I think they're the best weapon all around for everything. If you know how to stalk and be patient, patience is key for bow hunting in this game, which I like because it makes it more like actual bow hunting. But a good hit on anything is usually going to score you a 5 star hunt. I guess it's not as important as the star level of the animal in general, but I like trying to keep them both high. I'm glad they added different ammo types, but it could offer a couple more brands and variety but obviously there's advertising concerns and branding. But nonetheless, I still like that they changed it up. One of the best things about this game is the updates. Would be cool if they added more levers. 45-70, .444 Marlin, 7-30 waters, maybe even 25-35 win for lighter fare.

year later and this vid still gives great useful information, got the game from a friend a few days ago and im loving it.

1 star mature should ALWAYS be taken out, no matter what. I started to manage my cape buffalo herds by taking out the 1 star matures, but later on, I found out that you can take ALL males with asymmetric horns. They will never be a 5star. Now, I have multiple herds of kaffers who produce only 4 and 5 stars. Good luck and Waidmannsheil!

On the amount of joules that a bow or a crossbow puts out: Bullets shot from firearms kill by dumping energy into the target trough hydrostatic shock. That's why you need a lot of energy in them. Arrows and bolts however, kill by cutting, and making large wound channels that way. And you don't need that much energy to cut if you have sharp arrowheads.

I don't prefer using my guns caliber in game. I prefer to use the one that is closest to its actual performance. The game is good, but the rounds perform wildly different to their real life counterparts.

Great Video! I'm somewhat new to Aurora Shores and I'm really enjoying it, I'm after the wolf now but with no luck!! I assume a lot has changed in a year from your post. Anyway, I do agree with you on the infrared idea! if your challenged with night objective's infrared would be the right thing to have. I would also like to see them add pistols of different calibers to the game, hey, it gives you 3 firearms at one time, that would be awesome!!! Keep up the good work!

Three good Tier V rifles: Mono, 30.06 and the 7600. 30.30, has a massive reticle and it's the side of a mule deer torso at range 250+ (yards). 7600 is the best rifle in the game with one additionally great and bad feature. Pump action means much less disruption in view to cycle round so firing a second shot is MUCH easier. It also means that all the abilities you have in bolt action rifles are not worth a damn. If you want to hit targets beyond 200 yards, and take advantage of all your bolt action abilities, Monobloc is still king.

Not only are the maps ginormous beyond your wildest imagination, the lighting is crisp and breathtakingly realistic for all the different times of the day. The animal animations are second to none and their reactions when shot are incredible. I shot a wildebeast on the Tilamook map and my first shot sent him running full speed shot a second time while he was going full speed and hit his rear left leg at about 300 yards and that leg kicked back instantly in reaction to being hit. Kudos to the devs for such amazing detail.

Good information. My question pertains to bears. I always see them traveling in twos. A male and female. How would you go about taking them out when it come to improving the genepool for a better trophy rating?

I'm currently saving for a Zebra UTV. I'm halfway through. Since I have a hard time earning money, I want to decide carefully which one to buy. Actually, I was undecided. But I think I'll buy Zebra. 30 thousand differences for a single color difference is ridiculous. That's why I think it makes sense to choose the most different look that is worth paying 40 thousand for. What I buy should make me feel special in the eyes of other people. I use the Monobloc predominantly when my second weapon caters a very specific mission (e.g. shotguns, bows) as I feel the Monobloc works very well also for bigger game like Elks, Red Deer etc. Otherwise I usually pair the SM102 and the Pro Hunter II, alternatively Gams.

It’s totally unrealistic. Any decent compound crossbow can kill any animal on earth, and in most cases get a pass through. The recurve, which is 1 tier higher than the compound, is actually weaker. These should be reversed.

i disagree with you on one thing, yeah WOTH is the best hunting game currently in my opinion, i strongly believe that ultimate hunting will surpass all other hunting games whenever it comes out
