I've had pretty good luck with SaltStrong lures, but they definitely aren't as durable as Zman. I've definitely had better luck with catching more fish with them over Zman. I've only tried the Salty Bay Baits one time, and had better than expected luck on them, since the river was about a foot above normal and the particular lures I used weren't scented. I definitely plan on using them some more! Deep Creek Lures have also done pretty well for me! I'm moving to using those for bass fishing instead of Googan Baits, since they seem a little more durable, produce roughly the same amount of bites and it supports a NC business.

That Headbanger Lizard was definitely interesting! But I could definitely see it working! I think BioSpawn is one of my favorite Catch Co house brands! I've liked pretty much all of their soft plastics.

I think everything is still in the box that it came in. Usually, I add stuff that I'm not going to use, or have plenty of to a bin for future giveaways, but I think this stuff may go in the trash so no one has to deal with this garbage!

No what did you do with the weird hooks with the twist lock. I don’t recall ever seeing anything like that lol

They’re also still in the box. I’m really not sure how I would use those since there’s not really a place to tie the line to.

I've heard that a lot, but I've actually had a lot better luck with them. I've definitely made it 6 fish with one before, and only replaced it because I got snagged and broke off. It was pretty worn out, but it was still hanging onto the hook and getting bites. I haven't had much better luck with other soft plastics, other than Z-man lures, and other ElaZtech type lures!

That's one box that I haven't tried, and it sounds like I shouldn't! MTB had been so hit or miss, and gotten more miss since Catch Co was sold, that I had to cancel it. But too be honest, I haven't found a subscription box that I've been completely satisfied with.

Yeah, I’m sure Googan selling their stuff themselves really has hurt Karl’s! Though, the Googan hard baits are Catch Co products, so I doubt they’ll stop selling those since they are behind manufacturing them. I could see the soft plastics no longer being sold by Karl’s though.

That’s crazy! I’ve never had any issues with any of my MTBs, and I’ve gotten them off and on for a few years. I have had issues with orders from Karl’s, but they fixed them for me with no issues.

I've heard they were a nightmare to cancel! When I ordered this box, I made a point to just order a single box so that I wouldn't have to deal with that!

I haven’t had a ton of luck on getting sale prices in stores, with a few clearance reels and combos. I guess it’s one of those things that they know there aren’t many in store options, especially on higher end reels. I have seen where Karl’s Bait and Tackle, Tackle Warehouse, and Omini Fishing do sales on rods and reels. I’m on the pro staff team for @sixgillfishing, and they’re currently running sales on some of their stuff. Some of the rods are buy one get one free, and some reels are as much as 50% off.

Yeah, I completely agree! I don’t understand how they think these are ok to send out! If they at least said they were all private label lures, I would say it’s ok, but still a little on the same side. But claiming they’re the best baits puts it firmly in scam territory for me!

Honestly, I would have thought this box was way over priced a couple years ago, but after getting into surf fishing, I realized it's actually not a bad value! But I can definitely see where it comes across as really expensive!

Most of the time I fish around Atlantic Beach when I surf fish.

That’s what I heard, that they used to put name brand lures in the box when they first started. If I remember correctly, they started having financial problems shortly after MTB started taking off and disappeared for a bit. When they came back, it was under new ownership, and they used lures like these for every box. It’s really sad to see a company go from something promising, to just completely garbage. I’m afraid MTB is heading that way to with it being sold.

@@ENCFishing Yeah that is almost certainly true. It's a lot of factors. Fishing hit its peak during the covid lockdown, as everyone stuck out of the office and factory decided to take it up. Small companies were flush with orders and profits, but had difficulty getting material and manufacturing. Then all the Private Equity Groups bought up all the companies. A small mom and pop tackle company can't exist now. Just look at Pure Fishing and everything that they own. Then they maximize profit by moving all production into sweat shops overseas using the cheapest components while minimizing the workforce. Then everyone goes back to work, unemployment has shrunk and few people have time to fish. Sales plummet, innovation has been rubbed out and baits and gear are of poorer quality. The wheel comes around.

It’s been a while since I got a Monsterbass box, but this box was far worse than any monsterbass box I had gotten!
