so i just got the S-Tek pure system. the problem is that i dive in very cold water. i have a 7mm full wet suit and now i am going to a dry suit with thick undergarments. what about weight pockets? do i just do the trim pockets on the back of the plate or what do you use for the waist belt?
@DecoLounge-scubaАй бұрын
No don't use a weight belt. They make weight pockets that attach to the backplate and along your belt. I don't know why they don't come with them but you have to get some

I live and dive in Malaysia which is the same water temp as your area, My ribs get cold easily, and moving in water and fighting against water currents would introduce way more heat loss with a rashguard, so the best option for me is to use a full 1.5mm neoprene wetsuit and has worked very well from me
@DecoLounge-scubaАй бұрын
1.5 is super thin, these shorts are maybe 2mm. My divemasters wear legging with these shorts on top

@@TS-hz4lx everybody's physical limits are different including peoples choices for wetsuits and I am just sharing my personal experience. For the country that I live in, we need very minimal thermal protection for scuba diving. Water temp is much colder in your area so no need to pride yourself P.S. Yeah Wurkkos is really on top right now. Been a dealer for 2 years now and they haven't disappointed at all. Really good quality, very effective and really bright models. Prices are really inexpensive for what you're getting. Standard Dive lights with 1000 - 1200 Lumens usually sell for $250 - $599 But Wurkkos have really low price for $49 - $200+ and gives you a 500 - 10000 Lumens. The Chinese know alot about LED and batteries. Definitely worth it.

Hey Justin, just a quick note... For any overhead or deep tech dives, I would strongly prefer using a canister light with a cord, especially one where you can swap out the head. High-end canisters with multiple output ports are ideal because they allow you to heat your undergarment, while producing serious output for the light head which will be crucial for any dives lasting over 3 hours which you will eventually end up doing fn your are on the tech path. The other massive advantage of canister lights is the huge battery capacity! Great review overall-I hadn't heard of this company before, but their product looks solid. We're excited to check it out in person at your shop-hopefully soon!
@DecoLounge-scubaАй бұрын
I agree for tech diving for sure, but for my shop 99% of students are beginners, and need less to carry. Plus I can't stock up on 50 lights that cost a lot each

I problem I had with the Tecline is that it loosens while on the neck by itself, so you have to adjust just before you enter the water on every dive. Does this also happens to you? Changed the steel buckle system for the plastic press and release and it does the job for me. Excellent mask, totally brutal field of view.
@DecoLounge-scuba2 ай бұрын
I am kinda noticing that it's a bit loose when I first get in, but it also makes it easier to get on with one hand when holding my camera and fins with the other. And then I can just pull on on strap a little and it's tight again. But so far this is my new favorite mask I guess
@bubblef80732 ай бұрын
Tip: loose the swifel just another thing that will fail, and put pack the original poseidon hose. The original hoses do not kink and the lengt of the primery hose is ridiculous.

You can find this exact same mask, under different brand names, at most dive shops. I usually recommend my clients to just buy the cheapest one (often a "no name" generic brand). There is a notorious Apek's mask that sells for $150 that's also sold by their sister brand, Aqualung, for $60! Scuba diving doesn't have to be an expensive hobby unless divers choose to make it one.
@greglyon12012 ай бұрын
Dude, I’m telling you the OMS Tattoo mask must be made by the exact same manufacturer. It’s my favorite mask and it looks EXACTLY like these. Give it a look, OMS is now owned by DUI. It also comes in a lot of cool colors including an awesome frosted clear silicone. It comes in a narrow face or wide face size. The wide face size which is the one I use is exactly this mask.

@@DecoLounge-scuba Don't over do it with the bleach by putting too much in the water, you need little of it. Also, leave the mask in the solution until the fungus color disappears. I do this once a year with my masks and dive school's masks during the slow time of the year.

When I finally bought my own regs, I went with Poseidon X-Streams, I don't do tech diving (yet) but absolutely no regrets. If I'd had them when first doing my open water, yeah, they'd have been a bit intimidating. I've had it in my mouth when purging before, just.. hold your lips loose and let it work (and marvel at how clean your teeth feel now). One thing I've noticed is that you really need to open the tank valve fast, don't be gentle with them (don't pointlessly abuse them either), or the piston in the 2nd stage won't move into place under pressure and it'll free flow. Think Ford Vs. Ferrari, "It's a sports car, so you need to drive it like a sports car." I haven't had to have it serviced yet, and I hope my local shop owner and I can still be friends if I ever do have to have it serviced. My understanding is they're a bit of a pain.

Curious as to why your DMT is teaching sidemount configuration setup? There are also some mistakes in this. The piece that goes into the SPG is called a spool, not a pin. Proper terminology matters. He also doesn't seem to understand why the longhose is on the right or why he dives it that way. When teaching sidemount, it is important to understand all the different configurations and to be able to explain why you chose the configuration that you did. I applaud you on making the move to sidemount and look forward to your seeing your journey. I hope you take a proper sidemount course from someone who dives sidemount almost exclusively.
