How about rechargeable battery self-replaceable battery, piezo buttons mechanical buttons that need more care in saltwater? Both great computers, but these were some reasons why I decided for the Perdix over the Teric.

I'm not sure you made the point about the font size very well. Side by side the Teric clearly has smaller text, except for the clock digits in the center of the screen. Do those center digits display all I need to know during a dive? Probably not. The Perdix has a couple of rows where you can customize the amount of data shown. Larger text but less data or vice versa. The Teric has a round compass which is nicer and has four buttons instead of two. The Perdix has a user replaceable battery that lasts a while and the case can more easily be protected against scrapes. I think I'll go with the Perdix 2. The Perdix 1 form factor has never been a problem for me and I have my Apple Watch for above water.

I am happy with the perdix 2, mostly because I wear other watches daily (gshock as a backup) and the changeable battery made the big difference for me

Put the Teric in Dive mode, you wil see the ext is considerably smaller than the Perdix. Also, by adding a 6 inch HP hose, you are adding 2 points of failure.

But you're taking away the likely scenario of the transmitter getting knocked around. Ive been trying it in the set position for a while and t's actually kinda a pain worrying all the time. Dms lifting my tanks, boat crew hauling It into boat (will they use it as an easy handle?), or when I lay the tank down into my truck or boat ect, is it hitting anything ect ect ect. It's much floater and more peace of mind to do it with it on shoulder.

I’m trying to decide between these two and the Peregrine TX and Tern TX for my first computer (I’ve been using my iWatch Ultra for starters). Frankly I’m happy with either form factor’s appearance underwater and as I have the Ultra for the surface, the ‘daily driver’ watch function of the Teric and Tern models doesn’t really apply - and if it did I feel like it’d be better to just sell the Ultra and go with a Garmin Descent (unless anyone can convince me otherwise?). So far I feel like the advantage of the watch-style computers is the reduced drag and likely hood of snagging - especially donning/doffing the BCD. Meanwhile, the Perdix (not sure about the Peregrine) has the AA user-replaceable battery option. Basically at this point it’s all swings-and-roundabouts and price/deal would probably win-out come time to hand over my money unless someone can point me one way or the other on what I consider the most important difference; two buttons vs. four. Which is easier to use/navigate menus with?

De Descent has pretty bad reviews, so I would do some research before buying that one. I personally have a Perdix 2 and never had an issue with the donning/doffing (just put it on/take it off first). For me I would get the Peregrine, I also never understood why you want your dive watch to be a daily watch so go for the bigger form factor with bigger numbers and just get a separate sport watch as I feel the combination is the worst of both world. I have no problems with navigating the menu with two buttons, also the biggest difference between a Perdix and a Peregrine are the piezo buttons of the Perdix, they're easier in maintenance but if you just take good care of the Peregrine and rinse it in fresh water after every salt water dive (click the buttons a couple of times to get all the salt out!) there is really no issue.

@@nielsrad thank you for your reply. Relevant and to the point. If you don’t mind me asking, why Peregrine? I can see that its’ feature set is probably as much as I’d ever need (the only reason I was considering the Perdix/Teric option was future-proofing) but I was wondering what pulled you to the the Perdix? Was it a performance or quality thing (you may well be more advanced than I’m ever likely to be) or did you just get a deal you couldn’t pass-up kind of thing? Thanks again for your input.

@@christopheroconnor7659 I'm doing some trimix diving, that's something the Peregrine does not support. However to already spend double the amount to be future proof to do that I would discourage. Most probably the Peregrine will be more than enough for you for a very long time. Also there will probably be some quality difference but again not to justify double the cost.

Well if it's price, Garmin are the most expensive by far, but aren't better. And as for the changeable battery, that's what I didn't want. I don't want to worry about it, I can just toss it on the wireless charger every night and it's good to go

I do deco/tech dives not that often, compared to my nearly daily rec diving, where I don't need a giant computer. It's great just heading put with my watch style. I'm 120 dives in on my teric
