If you cut that gunwhale down as indicated, will you not lose some of the longitudinal strength? Its effectively acting as a longitudinal stringer at the top edge of the hull. If you reduce its depth you will be reducing its effective strength, especially as its already been discontinued when you went for the shorter cabin. Any bending moment on the hull will be compromised. What do you reckon?
@C3BFA
@C3BFA 10 күн бұрын
I can see your point, but with the shape of the gunnels and the the rest of the reinforcement I will be doing it won't be an issue. If this extended part ran all the way up and there was no other reinforcement I would be worried. But it only runs half way and it's there to improve the look with a full length cuddy. Good observation tho ninja thank you

Maybe if you seen how long I spent building the mould you wouldn't be so impressed 😂😂😂. I spent hours building the mould, my bloody ocd wouldn't let me stop. I am very very happy with the result tho, to be totally honest my original plan was to bond the bulk head in place, but after more thought I decided I'm going to fibreglass it in place so the mould didn't have to be so precise after all. But at least I know I can do it in future if needed. I have literally started fibreglassing the other half of the mould today it needs another 4-5 layers of fibreglass ans I can pop it out of the mould hopefully it turns out OK. Thanks for watching Michael I really appreciate it.

Well done Dave. Get that line cut, will clean it up nicely. With regards to the front pockets, if you glass them in you may have trouble gel coating inside. Have you thought about maybe a cargo net idea or even a removable front panel? Just imagine a drink spilling in there or a bait covered hand touching the inside of the pocket and fish guts festering in there until found 😂

Would it be worth getting a small portable diesel heater ? It might help warm up a localised area for glassing As for the inside of the gunnel how's about just fully extending them up to the steering position it would hide the cable and wiring from the console.
@C3BFA
@C3BFA 14 күн бұрын
I think it would maybe even a diesel blow heater but funds are tight to be honest just been Xmas and any spare cash needs to be saved to finish the boat off. I'm hoping the temps will lift soon enough to glass anyway. I hadn't really thought about adding a panel tbh but it's not a bad idea. The wiring and sterling cables are going to be running through the grey pipe you can see in the video under the gunnel stops them hanging down. Got decisions to make now ans more thinking 😂😂 Thanks for your input Thomas I really appreciate it

Thank you

@@tonyortega9877 Thank you Tony. My mates does the same basically when you put it in forward or reverse don't do it slowly, Put it in positively. I'm not saying slam it forward or backwards but do it like you mean it if that makes sense. They don't have clutches it's direct drive so you will hear the gears meshing. If it still sounds like it once in gear then there's an issue but if it's fine in gear it's normal. If its really bad it could be a stretched cable, as far as I remember it's not adjustable.
