The show director said the reason Cap didn't chase Rogue to Mexico is because he had to go find his shield. I counter that with the belief that Cap wouldn't bother looking for it if he had a deadline. He'd leave it and either come back later for it of send someone to recover it for him. Its nice to have but he doesn't need it. Tony Stark, Hank Pym, Warmachine or Vision, could swing by and find it in just a few minutes. Chances of some random person finding it are extremely slim.
