1:00:08 if there is nothing eternal in us then to whom Vipassana is? As long as there is attachment towards the body and the mind, the Observer has to be there to transcend them. This is the Power of Witnessing. Once the Observer, as Goenkaji himself has said the "drusta bhaava", through objective observation transcends mind and matter, only then even the Observer ceases to be an Observer and thereby the Observer transcends himself and realizes the Ultimate Absolute Truth which Bhagavan Buddha called "nirnavana"- the Supreme State beyond Triputi.

I was reading Ledi Sayadaw's ဥတ္တမပုရိသ ဒီပနီ [Is that the same as 'Manual of Excellent Man'?] I noted Ledi Sayadaw translated the Pali ပဇာနာတိ pajanati into Burmese as 'အဟုတ်သိ၏'. One translation is 'Knowing actually'. Then, he gave an explanation of 'အဟုတ်သိ' or 'knowing actually'. 'ပါးစပ်က ပြောတတ်၊ ဟောတတ်သည်ကို အဟုတ်သိမဆို အမှတ်သိသာ ဆိုရ၏။ ကိုယ်တွင်းမှာ အလင်းပေါက်အောင် သိသည်ကိုသာ အဟုတ်သိ ဆိုသတည်း" 'Only when the light [or panna] shines in one's body can one say s/he knows actually'. Exactly the same as what Sayagyi said in this 3rd day discourse. 'Knowledge not by your sanna, not by your intellect, but by direct experience'. It is as if the truth, the Dhamma is flowing through Ledi Sayadaw to our Sayagyi for our benefits. I feel so fortunate and so grateful to the chain of teachers in this tradition which preserves the purity of it.

49.30: Buddha said, "the body is not I, the body is not mine, the body is not myself". Who is this "myself" who comes to this conclusion?
@menoutube11 ай бұрын
No one.. there only observation of arising and passing and wisdom of anicca. Then you realise annata, that is no self. He mentions it in this talk. Listen again.

@@menoutube If there is "no one", what is that which is aware of "no one'? Even you say, "then you realize anatta", to whom or to what this "you" is referred to?
@menoutube11 ай бұрын
@@paramasadguru1618 its no 'one' i.e. no single person/individual.. there is awareness that is aware of there being arising and passing, of no personality/individual being there, and finally awareness that there never was any'one' there and that the personal identity was made up. Feel free to ask more. It helps me clarify my own understanding.
@paramasadguru161811 ай бұрын
@@menoutube You are perfectly correct: I totally agree with you. It is AWARENESS or CONSCIOUSNESS that is inquiring about the body and the mind and finally transcending both of them. This Consciousness when gets reflected in the intellect, assumes the temporal form of ego-I. When this ego-I identifies itself with the body [matter] and the mind, the individual is born and this individual is totally controlled by 'me [ahamkara] and mine [mamakaara]' idea to deal with the world. Pure Consciousness is our primordial nature. When this Pure Consciousness recognizes its own Existence, it reveals itself to itself as "I AM". Here, "I" is of the nature of Consciousness [CHITH]and "AM" is of the nature of Existence [SATH]. Identifying with the matter and the mind is the greatest sin. Hence we have to extricate ourselves from them by observing them as taught to us by Bhagavan Buddha. Then we realize who we really ARE. We are of the nature of SATH-CHITH-AaNANDA. This is also called as "BUDDHA NATURE'. In Vedanta this Buddha Nature has been hailed as "Prajnaanam Brahma". The very purpose of these explanations is to show that what Bhagavan Buddha has taught is nothing but the core of Upanishads. It is for this reason that Buddha has been revered and respected in Sanatana Dharma. Why this fundamental truth is not explained in Vipassana discourse is not known. I firmly believe, on the basis of my own experience, that Buddha's technique of exploration of mind and matter certainly helps mankind to realize the Greatest Truths expounded by Upanishads.

A sincere seeker of TRUTH sees three kinds of "I". 1) The first one is, the Ego-I [ahaṃkāra], generated in the Vijnānamaya Kôśa [intellect]. This results in doer-ship [kartrutva bhāva and bhokta bhāva] that leads to attachment with the mind, matter and the world and thereby misery; 2) The second one is, the Witnessing Consciousness [Drastā Bhāva], the "I", which is capable of observing the body, feelings, perceptions, and drives and impulses [saṃskārās]. This is the threshold of Liberation; 3) The third one is, when one comes out of the entire field of misery where one reaches the [so called] "STATE" where one realizes real peace and harmony [called the Other Shore]. This is the "SUPREME "I" STATE" realised after total liberation where even triputi [the knower, known and knowing of the known] ceases to exist; 4) The first one is known as 'Jîva', the second one is known as the "Ātma" and the third one is known as "Nirvāṇa or Parabrahman or Paramātma" wherein one becomes unconditionally one with the entire universe. This is also known as "Kévala Jnāna or Darśana" or as Bhagavān Buddha said "Jnāna Mattāya, Patisathi Mattāya".

Sadguru Goenkaji says we have to transcend from bhôktha bhāva to draśta bhāva. Bhôktha bhāva is in and for the mind, the enjoyer of the world through five senses. Possessing the Power of Witnessing, we [I Am] are Draśta, the Observer and hence druśta bhāva belongs to us. However, being ignorant of our own innate nature as the Witness, we have falsely identified ourselves with the ego [the false I] and the mind and hence have become bhôktha. Now, we have to separate ourselves from bhôktha bhāva and firmly establish ourselves as Draśta, the Witnessing Conscious Observer. How to do that? By understanding and by being aware of one’s own sublime feeling or subtlest sense of “I Am [I-ness of one’s Being- "I" is Consciousness and Am is Pure Existence], it is possible to abide in the Truth incessantly. My Existence [SATH] and My Wtnessing Consciousness [CHITH- Sākśi bhāva], can never be denied or negated in all the three experiences of the mind and also in Samādhi. None of us have the experience of our absence at any point of time because [as our presence] we are always present as "I Am- I Exist". "I Am" is immune to any type of modification and hence it is possible to observe the impermanent nature of the body, mind and ego-I. This is the Path of Awakening as revealed to us by Bhagavān Buddha, wherein one can be aware of whatever karma one is doing through karmédriyās and whatever sensations gathered through jnānédriyās. This is possible only when one remains as a Silent Witness to kāya, védana, chittha and dharma. On the one hand, one can at all times be aware of the feeling of “I Am” and on the other hand one can always be aware of all the sensations on the body generated by the mind. This type of practice is really valued as the most efficient and powerful spiritual path as the feeling of “I Am” is in us ceaselessly.

@@paramasadguru1618 would you equate the 'I AM' witness observer Self as ATMA, not as a belief, but as the experience of witnessing conscious awareness, the consciousness as the light of ATMA emanating from the Being PARAMATMA within the core of ATMA?
