@TheCoolGrandpa25 күн бұрын
It's a great rod, Fenwick is among the best rods out there. It's not exactly cheap though but if you're looking for a rod that will last the rest of your life, the HMX is a good investment.
@themonkeyfinesseАй бұрын
can you just press the clutch to allow freespool with the clicker on? That way you dont have to tighten drag star before reeling?
@TheCoolGrandpaАй бұрын
It's more of a personal preference, I like having the ability to control the tension of the spool obtained by adjusting the drag, sort of like that with baitfeeder spinning reels.

Can you do a longer video on the 4'9 heavy
@TheCoolGrandpaАй бұрын
Absolutely! It's actually on my to do list, paired with a 4000 series reel, most likely the Okuma Avenger ABF-40b currently on the Ugly Stik 4'9" rod. I'll make it a priority for you. Thanks for the request and for watching!
@ASMRLIVEFEEDАй бұрын
@TheCoolGrandpa can you make a quick bend test tonight . Should I go with the 4'9 heavy or 4'9 medium heavy? I plan on using 20pound braided on a daiwa bg 2500
@TheCoolGrandpaАй бұрын
Honestly I don't think there is much difference between the Heavy and the Medium Heavy at that length. Gives you another half to 3 quarter of an once weight support or so. To me, that's significant. So I would go with the Heavy.

Thanks for sharing Sir! I bought two Pen Prevail II's from Walmart online and while I already have a KastKing Sharkie BaitFeeder III in the 3000 and 4000 series, I'm thinking about getting two of these specifically for my surf rods. I won't be using them until summer of 2025 in Michigan after I move there but I'm so close to just buying them anyway to have.

@TheCoolGrandpa2 ай бұрын
It's the Bass Pro Shops Graphite Series RT2 Graphite 7'6" Heavy Fast 20-40lb line 2-10oz. lure/bait. I think it pairs nicely with the Alijoz XH400. The blue color of the rod goes great with the metallic blue of the reel. I'm able to put an 1oz weight with 4 oz baitfish and doesn't bend a bit. Not a big fan of flimsy rods lol. Sure thing, glad I could help! The Fuego is a good reel but don't overlook the Tatula CT, it's a little more expensive but not much, especially if you can find it on-sale. The Tatulas are awesome reels and worth every penny, in my opinion. You'll still be happy with the Fuego, if you get it either way. Thanks for watching!

So what size would you recommend for smaller muskys the 28-40 inch range I use 12 lb test should I get the 4000 or 45b or should I get the 55b
@TheCoolGrandpa2 ай бұрын
I think you'd be happier overall with the ABF-55b and a little more versatile. The 4000 might be a little too small for muskies in that range. The ABF-40b is a tad bigger, holding 205yds versus 190yds/12lb. The 55b holds 365 yards of 12lb.

I’m relatively amateur and looking into buying my first decent set up for reel. I’ve been looking at this one and wondering if it would be good for shore fishing trout or if it’s too big for what I need.
@TheCoolGrandpa3 ай бұрын
Depends on what kind of trout. For example, catching rainbows or brown trout in streams or creeks, the 5000 series would be way too big. You will need a much smaller reel, a 500 size like the Ceymar ODTF-500A or Avenger ABF-500 loaded with 2-4lb clear line. For a little more versatility, you could get by with a 1000 series reel, low diameter 6-8lb clear line, but for streams, anything larger than 4lb is pushing it. KastKing offers high strength, low diameter Destron and Tripolymer line that would be great. For a little more $, flourocarbon line is ideal. Lake trout, steelheads, and saltwater trout, the 5000 paired with 15-25lb line would be perfect to fish with. Good luck and thanks for watching!
@logangregory18232 ай бұрын
@@TheCoolGrandpa I wanted 2000 but they didn’t have any so I’m between the 1000 and the 3000. And from what I’m hearing it sounds like I should stay on the small side of things.
@TheCoolGrandpa2 ай бұрын
Again, it depends on the kind of trout you are targeting. Going for Rainbows or Browns, you definitely want to keep it small, the 500 or the 1000 would be the better choice. You could still go with the 3000 but be sure to use the smallest line you can, the fish in ultra clear water get spooked very easily, especially in waters that are heavily fished from other anglers.
@westvirginiafishingdudeout78413 ай бұрын
Any idea on what size the 6000 is comparable to I am looking for light lure musky reel used a Mitchel 300 on it for 10 years any idea how much bigger the 6000 is then that
@TheCoolGrandpa3 ай бұрын
The Okuma ABF-6000 is more inline with a 5000 Series reel size wise. It would be a good light to medium reel for muskies depending on the size of your baits or lures. Not familiar with the Mitchels, last one I used was a long time ago.

@TheCoolGrandpa3 ай бұрын
I'm not entirely sure that it does. I've not found any line spoolers that prevent line twist for spinning reels, including the Piscifun Line Spooler. I'm in the process of building my own contraption to eliminate line twist for spinning reels, initial tests look promising

@TheCoolGrandpa4 ай бұрын
Either would be fine but for the big ones I'd use the ABF-65b. The 65b is a powerful reel
@TheIconicFisherman5 ай бұрын
What you could do is use electrical tape and tape around the spool and then tie your braid directly to that. Because the rubbery texture of electrical tape prevents the braid from slipping. If you do that you can easily get 200 - 250 yards of 50 lb braid on that reel that's what I did and I haven't had any issues with braid slipping in all the years I have been using braid. And I've never used monofilament backing I just always used electrical tape.
@TheCoolGrandpa5 ай бұрын
Excellent suggestion, thank you! I'll give that a shot the next time I spool a reel. Big fan of electrical tape
@TheIconicFisherman5 ай бұрын
@@TheCoolGrandpa yeah electrical tape has a million uses but in fishing I primarily use it for spooling up my reels with braid I've never been a fan of mono backing personally. Probably because I've been fishing with braid so long that I remember back when people used to just use electrical tape before mono backing was ever used. And the only reason people started using mono backing anyway was to save money on braid. but I guess it's just an old head habit of mine to just use electrical tape but it works perfectly for me so why change something if it's working.

Good looking rod. I had one of their sharky 3 baitrunners. It lasted 3 weeks. The gears that hold the handle in place sheered off after about a few dozen 5 to 10 pound freshwater drum. They warranted it out for a non bait feeder sharky 3. It’s smooth but super noisy like the bearings need grease.
@TheCoolGrandpa6 ай бұрын
Hmm interesting... I've been considering getting a 4000 series Sharky III Baitrunner. I love the Okuma Baitfeeder reels (Obviously lol) but thought about giving KastKing a shot. This isn't the first time I heard of issues with the Sharky III's so I may just stay with Okuma, most likely the ABF-40b. Thanks for watching and the heads up!
@tripplebeards34276 ай бұрын
@@TheCoolGrandpa the smallest...4000 is what I had. The kastking rep told me it was common issue with them and a weak design. To bad I really liked the reel. They to me to go with a screw in style handle because they are alot stronger design. I ended up with a Sharkey 111 non bait feeder. I bought an Okumah bait runner for around the same price on sale off Amazon. Its alot better quality reel.
