Nice base weight. My comfy base weight with tent, tent stakes, ground sheet, sleeping quilt, sleeping pad Nemo tensor all season, and backpack is 5.84lbs. I’m a cold sleeper even in the summer, so I also have a sleeping bag liner, if I’m too hot at night, I just use the liner. My tent is the Zpacks plex solo ( haven’t used it yet). My total weight with clothes, first aid and cooking gear, and electronics is 11lbs. That’s my summer weight with some winter clothing also, just incase and some comfy items. My pillow is my buff with my puffy stuffed inside, so no additional weight. I like to thru hike early spring into summer.

@KevinRStrauss3 ай бұрын
@DrKeithMcNally, there are so many options! I love my Six Moon Design tents but to replace my 1-person, I'm leaning toward the Durston X-Mid Pro 1. It's on the high end of price (DCF version) but has the features I prefer and weighs just 17.6 oz.
@DrKeithMcNally3 ай бұрын
@@KevinRStrauss - I own the Durston, same as you. 2-person tent. don't know if this is going to make it through the AT though.
@KevinRStrauss3 ай бұрын
@@DrKeithMcNally How do you like your Durston? Which version? I have not purchased one yet but it's my leading contender. It's said to be one of the easiest trekking pole tents to setup especially in the rain. What's your experience been? There's a very active Facebook Group you might consider joining if you haven't already.
@SparkyOne5492 ай бұрын
I have seen from many thru hikers that use ultralight tents ( any brand) they have to buy a new tent because they’re not durable and don’t last. They’re great for the rain and wind, but you have to have a groundsheet and be really gentle with them, the tents tend to get a lot of holes, but that applies to any tent.

Hi thanks so much for this video! My apple watch puts my zone two at 127-139, and using your formula I would be at 108-135 - can you shed some light onto why there is this difference?
@KevinRStrauss2 ай бұрын
@nataliefinstad, my apologies for not seeing your comment sooner. I'm glad the video was helpful! It is my understanding that Apple Watch updates your RHR (resting) and MHR (max) at the beginning of each month using data collected from the previous month. This means your Zones can change. There are different ways to calculate HR Zones. I shared what I believe is the simplest and has been effective for me & my athletes for decades. Let me ask this, if you're exercising in Apple's Zone 2, are you able to have a conversation with a friend? Or, could you stay in that zone breathing only through your nose (and not mouth)? If the answer is No, then that HR is too high and not your Zone 2.
