There used to be a US station in Hyder, but it was closed some time ago. There isn't really any way further into Alaska via Hyder, there are only logging roads and no access to the rest of the state, hence why there is on Canada border control here.

I guess I'll break the ice and finally leave you a comment, Aaron (as I recall). Outstanding series and trip for you! You got some killer shots and footage! I don't recall ever seeing any pics or videos from there. Never set out to look. Stunning landscapes and animal life obviously as well. Sorry your trip was cut short. I found your channel early last year looking for Alaska stuff prior to my first trip to its interior. I watched all of those videos from your trip there then had to watch everything else. Great trips and outstanding work!

Thanks for breaking the ice, and for the encouraging words 👍 South Georgia is definitely one incredible island ! How did you find Alaska ? We absolutely loved it there, great memories ! Cheers
@darrenk6616Ай бұрын
Sure thing! It is pretty sweet for sure. I spent all summer there with a mix of play (for pictures) and remote work, so I was able to drive everywhere and soak it all up. Great memories as you say.

The human footprint in Antarctica is already out of control. I hate to think what it will be like in 20 or so years.
@angusexpeditions9940Ай бұрын
I have never been to Antartica so will have to take your word for it. South Georgia seems to be in a far better state than it was 20 years ago though as far as the wildlife is concerned..

So wonderful to see SG is still pristine. I have been inspired by Shackleton's story and would love to stand at the man's grave.
@angusexpeditions99402 ай бұрын
Yes the first I heard of South Georgia was from the Shackleton story ! I believe the eradication of rats/ mice a few years back have helped SG to get back to how it once was.
@robdotcom712 ай бұрын
Some amazing shots and experiences to last a lifetime. Was this part of a larger trip to continue on to Antarctica?
@angusexpeditions99402 ай бұрын
Cheers mate, this trip was South Georgia only, most ships do seem to just stop in on the way to Antartica but I was keen to spend as much time exploring SG island as I could 👍

It’s a pretty long story, but thankfully money only (would have hated to lose my camera gear before the trip ) basically jumped into the wrong cab, was taken to a very dodgy location where a group was waiting… would have made an interesting KZbin ep for sure 😂 but focused on forgetting all that and enjoying the rest of the trip 👍

Aww. I recognize 747s mangled ears anywhere. Great video! When you said it was crazy, was it because bears are all around and that it was unnerving not knowing if they'd pop out?
@angusexpeditions99403 ай бұрын
@@clammeh73 Thanks ! yes I found that part of it pretty crazy - but in a good way ! especially the late afternoons when most had left or gone back to their accommodation, feels pretty wild not knowing what was around each corner, truly incredible place !

Great video with a lot of great information for those who never had the chance to get there. I will be there for the first time with a group of photographer friends this July and I just shared your video to our group messenger and everyone appreciated all the effort. One quick question, are you fully free to walk along the park without a guide? Thank you for your time and looking forward to watch more of your videos.
@angusexpeditions9940 Жыл бұрын
Thanks ! Yes you are free to walk around with no guide, their are a few rules / guidelines to follow though which they talk you through when you arrive .. I should also mention that during the day there is generally a wait (not overly long) at the brook falls platform, the ranger takes your name and calls you over once it is your turn. enjoy your trip it is unreal !

My coworker got one night in Aug of 2025. I’m already packing 😂 she keeps worrying that it’s August and there won’t be as many bears. I say a pile a skat and a seeing Grazer would make me happy. And Otis, 747,856, 910s and on and on. Have a great trip.
