Removing the needles isn't that difficult so I left that part out. I normally use a fork or thin pry tool to remove the needles from the gauges. I let the end user reset their needles once installed in their trucks so they can set them correctly... I recommend putting masking tape on the gauge overlays under each needle, turn the key on & let the needles go to their "start" position, mark both sides of the needles with a fine sharpie marker, Once you have the mod completed, set the needles back in between those marks when the key is on. This might not be 100% perfect, but it'll get you close enough where you can use your GPS to set exact speed.turn the key on & let the needles go to their "start" position

i typically use high output 3mm led's for these mods. i use the oem bulb holders & install my led & resistors & orient them so the led is pointing directly at the icon on the switch button for maximum light output. i can do these in several colors & they're a simple plug-n-play swap

i can do the switch lights in yellow, red & orange, i guess orange would be closer to amber than yellow. right now, i'm totally out of headlight switch bulb holders to mod, but i can led mod a headlight switch. for the cluster & hvac panel, for best results in color changing, i'd recommend removing the gauge overlays, wet sanding the color filtering film from those areas (back of the overlays), masking & spraying those areas with your choice of colors of duplicolor metalcast spray paint, it's translucent & lets the paint shine through really well when using white led's behind them. feel free to drop me a message over on my buggman mods facebook.

sorry dude, this project got started back in 2014 & life threw some curve balls at me & I never ended up completing it. I sold the subs and still haven't got around to building a new box for the ranger. i built the box so the height was right up to the bottom of the rear speaker grilles & I had plans for removable panels to cover the entire top to conceal a little extra storage behind & on the sides of the box. hopefully one of these days i'll get back to work on the ranger & come up with some new & improved ideas for the stereo.

i believe this one was done with krylon fusion paint

unfortunately ford doesn't sell just the replacement bulb, they want everyone to buy an entire new switch (around $85). 99% of the bulbs i've got from junkyard hunters are burned out as well, but luckily i'm able to led mod the oem bulb holders for a fraction of what a new switch will run.

Just halogen bulbs (Philips brand I believe) in a newer set of evilBay housings. Still quite bright

They'll physically fit, actually pretty much any ranger, mazda, explorer or mountianeer from 95-01 should fit. The explorer & mounty radio bezels will usually have the rear wiper control in the upper right side. some people will leave them in, some remove them. i remove them & fill in the insert area or turn it into a fog switch opening or 12v socket.

these 06+ ranger fender/tailgate badge led plates would run $40 a pair +shipping

i used about 20 cans of rustoleum rust reformer paint

BUGGMAN MODS nice 👍🏻even some wet sanding might help blend the paint a little more, otherwise looks great!

Then do a matte clear coat 👍🏻

i thought about using a flat clear, but for now i'm pretty happy with the flat finish

nobody sells the exact replacement bulbs, ford makes you buy the entire switch. i do however led mod the oem bulb holders for a plug-n-play swap.

@@buggmanmods Too bad you don't sell these modified led bulbs as I would buy them. I need a bunch of replacement bulbs for my radio bezel switches, and I don't want to learn electrical engineering to do all the mods myself.

@@buggmanmods BTW, are your LED mods install ready? Would I have to install some kind of resistors? I have a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport- are the mods you make good for the other switches such as the rear wiper, rear defroster, climate switches and 4x4 switch? Basically all the switches on the center radio panel/bezel.
