@@HelmickArt I tried to design a clock for 3D printing but the working time was always a challenge (I wanted it to work over 24 hours). I found that only the long cycle of the balance wheel is the solution. This movie gave me new ideas. Thanks

Dale, did you balance each piece after you assembled them or before? And the smooth slow movement…how did you get that? Thanks

Balance after assembly ... More mass gives slower movement...and longer run time

Excellent piece of work. Very impressive I actually prefer the motion and look/feel of your work compared to Solo. I am just starting out on kinetic structures May I ask what software tools you used to design the wholesculpture please ? I have seen tools around like gearotic, gearca, etc... but so far I am still very unsure of the best way forward to gain the skills and software tools that would be best to use for this and simulation, etc ... Many thanks Dale

I designed in vcarvepro.. Usually make a prototype then refine the design ..test different parts ..adjust the balance etc. until I get the results I want. All Cut on my cnc router from 1/2" plywood

In sculptures like this, everyone uses a stretchable spring. I used round rubber. It is not reliable. Could you tell me what you are using and where I can get it.
