Congratulations! I made one of those floating motion sculptures myself last year, a copy of Roys "Solo". It wasn't easy to get all the details together, but worth the effort. Hardly any information to find online about the inner workings...

Excellent piece of work. Very impressive I actually prefer the motion and look/feel of your work compared to Solo. I am just starting out on kinetic structures May I ask what software tools you used to design the wholesculpture please ? I have seen tools around like gearotic, gearca, etc... but so far I am still very unsure of the best way forward to gain the skills and software tools that would be best to use for this and simulation, etc ... Many thanks Dale

I designed in vcarvepro.. Usually make a prototype then refine the design ..test different parts ..adjust the balance etc. until I get the results I want. All Cut on my cnc router from 1/2" plywood

Dale, did you balance each piece after you assembled them or before? And the smooth slow movement…how did you get that? Thanks
@HelmickArt2 жыл бұрын
Balance after assembly ... More mass gives slower movement...and longer run time
