I love these watches but they are ridiculously overpriced. These should be under $300 new. 4r, hardlex, basic bracelet. The dial is also basic although well designed. These are similar in construction to modern Seiko 5 line which generally are less than $250. The new snkx line goes for about $260 brand new. Even the basic cocktail time go for less than $350. These go fo $400 to $500 used.

Typical Seiko. Never a proper bracelet. They do it on purpose not because they can not do it. I like the tic tac. I think Seiko is better off to release watches on straps.. but also heard their straps are crap too. They know people buy them. I feel it is insulting what they do to people buying them. You buy a Seiko and only be able to keep the watch and put the straps or the bracelet to the bin. But I like the design. Still also no sapphire glass that is again talking people for a ride.

Yeaaaaa, it’s a damn shame how much you have to spend on a Seiko to get a decent bracelet. I’ve got an SKX 007 and an SNK381 and neither of them is on the stock bracelet. The SKX lives on an Uncle Straps z199 and the SNK on a Nick Mankey Designs Hook strap

Appreciate the video, but not so much the watch. Kind of a meh design for me and weak specs for the money. I wouldn't have promoted it hard either if I was Seiko. It really is a horrible critique of our society when many are so concerned about the very real problem of scammers that we get stuck, feeling unable to move forward - but there's a number of online forums for wristwatch enthusiasts that will often have a dedicated thread or two about how to sell safely online.

@ChristyOFaghan it's just my luck, I don't know if it's necessarily a simptom of a larger issue or not. Last week I received a watch from Amazon US that I paid almost double for with the shipping and import taxes. They sent me a defective watch that was an obvious return from someone else. They didn't even put the watch box lid back on. And they want me to pay for the return and they'll maybe refund a portion of the shipping cost. So that's just how it goes for me. I assume it's not the common experience of most peoplebut what do I know...

I thinkTicTac has done a great job with these watches! I always assumed in these boutique or brand collaborations with Seiko, it is the collaborator that initiates the partnership and also bear the burden of sales and marketing for the product as well as the production cost while also taking the lion's share of the net revenue. Seiko would essentially be lending its manufacturing capability and brand value in exchange for a margin of the units produced and sold to the collaborator. There might be a tiered price structure where Seiko could take on a larger role in promotion for a larger margin from the collaborator. I am only speculating here based on my observation of the many collaborations Seiko has done over the last two decades.

The baby alpinist has taken all the good elements and put them into a smaller package. Good riddance to the gold numerals, redundant bezel compass and extra crown that came with it.

The smaller Alpinist answers all the questions that the original alpinist should of answered being more like an explorer style of watch but with some of the design cues of the original model, the cathedral hands and the numeral markings being printed rather than applied. @addicted_to_watches8 күн бұрын
Thank you! I was really lucky to be able to get that one. The size isn't quite perfect for me either unfortunately. The 40mm case size sounds good but I don't really like the 22mm lug width and lack of taper on the bracelet. It only goes down to 20mm at the clasp. If it tapered a bit more to 18 or even started at 20 and went to 18 it would feel a lot more comfortable to me. I remember seeing they released a smaller 38.6mm sized evo9 case in titanium but it didn't have a bracelet option and used a hand wound movement, the slgw003
@Arthur_George8 күн бұрын
@ unfortunately the thickness of most GS movements is also a problem for me. Pieces seem to sag down my wrist one side or the other and feel uncomfortable. I got around this by purchasing SBGX355, the newly released 9F quartz with the snowflake dial in titanium. Absolutely adore that piece but even the 9F has a thickness of 10.6mm! GS really need to slim down their lines and of course upgrade their bracelets - I don’t hate the titanium 3 link but I wish it had some form of microadjust. Christopher Ward does a good friction-based adjust system on their twelve which would be fine for GS in my opinion.

I think this video is missing the most important part, the actual buying process. This is the issue that generates the most anxiety: how and who do you pay, how is it shipped and how much it costs, what's the buyee commission, and what possible import taxes one should look out for locally. These are the big unknowns for every inexperienced buyer and probably the things that stop most from even trying.
@addicted_to_watches14 күн бұрын
You do raise a good point about things like the fees. In terms of shipping it's very much dependent on the size and shape of the package but you get different options for various carriers (DHL, fedex, EMS, etc) so you can compare the price and delivery times at this stage. Being in Australia, online purchases generally have a 10% tax which is what I have to pay (though buyee collects it as opposed to paying it at the time of import) Finally in terms of fees, for the tic tac that I showed I bought at the end, I paid 800 yen in fees which I believe is standard. 300 yen makes up the buyee service fee and 500 is for the standard plan (you have choices between getting the item inspected) Hope that helps!

I won an auction on Ebay for a Seiko SBTM213. I have looked back and confirmed that is was for a SBTM. The watch I received was a Seiko Brightz SAGZ079. I went back to the auction and the pictures were of the SAGZ. They are very similar and I didn't notice the difference, I thought it was a trick of the reflections. Was I duped? Most of the research that I have done says that the prices are pretty close with the SAGZ being marginally more expensive. Did I win or is the SBTM significantly better in some way?
@addicted_to_watches18 күн бұрын
That's a bit annoying it was incorrectly labeled. The first video I ever posted is on the sagz083 which is from the same line and I really liked that watch. They do have a lot of similarities though the sagz is a newer model. The main differences would be the more angular case design to the sagz and the fact that the end link of the bracelet is actually part of the case so where you can swap the strap on the sbtm, you can't on the sagz. I wouldn't say the sbtm is necessarily better or worse. The finishing is probably a bit better on the sagz and the dial a little cleaner but it will mostly come down to whether you like the angular design or not and whether you want to put it on a different strap. Personally I think you can't go wrong with either but would have probably wanted the watch I thought I was buying in the first place
@jeffzhejiang16 күн бұрын
Thanks for your well considered and insightful reply. Interesting that you even have experience with the SAGZ' line. I'm leaning towards keeping it the more I look at it. I may even grab the SBTM at some later date to see if I made the right decision. Returning it and waiting for the opportunity to get an SBTM, being they are so close appearance wise, doesn't seem like a very appealing idea😆. Love your video's. Keep up the great work.

Hi there, and thanks for your evaluation of this watch. I also own the v2 of this one and I think it’s a really worthwhile purchase, for a tiny percentage of the original, it definitely gives me the look and the feel that I want. The original longines spirit is a gorgeous piece, but the whole point for me is that I wouldn’t spend that amount of money on one watch these days, I’m by no means a wealthy collector and homage watches allow me to enjoy every different style and type of watch that takes my fancy. I own many pagani watches and most of them are great. Pagani designs have a reputation for bad bracelets but I don’t agree with that, like the one on this watch I find to be very comfortable and good looking, of course it’s not as good as the OG, but you simply can’t forget about how little you’re paying for it. I have a massive collection and have watches for every occasion and pass time, and on the whole they are far superior to the watches I was paying more for 20 or 30 years ago. Keep the reviews coming, cheers
