To appreciate the genius of this song check out a very different rendition by the late Sharon Jones.

I use one cracker to 6 eggs and cook like a pancake under low heat but first preheat the pan to as high of heat as I can without smoking the oil. Cover and allow to cook slowly under low heat. Flip once when the egg is firm and before the bottom browns too much. If the pan was hot enough when you first put the mix in it will not stick. If careful it will rise and take a set like a souffle. Scalding the broken matzo crackers with just enough boiling water at that step is essential to make it rise nicely. Don't over-mix the wet matzo and eggs so as to allow the cracker bits to remain together in layers and not turn to mush with the eggs for the best texture in the finished matzo brei.

“He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our God from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea. May HaShem cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor. May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is HaShem, your God, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you. Now let us respond: Amen.”

Leonard Cohen sang for the Israeli army during the Yom Kippur War, in the Sinai and in Egypt. Maybe you shouldn't listen to his music at all.

Замечательный рецепт, очень похоже на то как делала моя бабушка. Думаю что различия были в каждом местечке и у каждой хозяйки. Требовать идентичности это наивно. Даже родная сестра моей бабушки делала флуден немного по-другому.

Daniel, I am 60 yrs old. I loved your version. Though I don't understand Yiddish except for a few words meaning "confused" and "crazy" and "human". I'm a "verklempt mensch". Or, at least I am when I hear your song and then listen to L Cohen's original. I recognized your translation. Leonard is one beautiful filter of the Divine. You are another. All these filters create rainbows. Thank you.

The sushi prop was utterly ridiculous. And the joke wasn't funny either. Sorry to be so critical but I'm a pretty fair connoisseur of Jewish humor (for a goy, anyway), and this wasn't even a particularly Jewish joke. You can tell a knock-knock joke in Yiddish, Hebrew, hell even Aramaic if you want and that doesn't make it jewish humor. Anyway, L'Chaim!
