I love The Corries and Scotcha are brilliant at this wonderful song too. I had forgotten about this wonderful masterpiece song until I went on an Edinburgh Tours The Regal Tour and I listened to it and I remembered how amazing this song actually is that I cried when it was played through the earphones.

Not sure I am the only one who has heard of the term melancholic Scot. I found this term very fitting for my Dad and his kin. Especially singing Danny Boy and now this song fits in with the nostalgia.

This is my favorite song. I love this rendition. A lot of people are saying they associate this with goodbyes and the ending of a life, but this song saved mine. My condolences to all who are suffering and may you find peace in the melodies that heal you ❤

I'd love to know the story of how this song saved your life! I've heard one song saved a life before, Stan Rogers The Mary Ellen Carter, with its refrain, "Rise again, rise again - though your heart it be broken And life about to end No matter what you’ve lost, be it a home, a love, a friend. Like the Mary Ellen Carter, rise again. A man was drowning, and about to go down for the last time, when he heard this song in his mind and with all his dwindling strength - rose again. A passing boat saw him and rescued him. Please tell us your story. It won't tarnish the loving grief of the many who associate it with the ending of life.
