I am hoping it will work with Digirig. I am pretty sure I will be able to use VARA FM without the Digirig interface but want the option. I wrote BTech and Varo and both said they have no information on the side plug or its pin configuration.

For the 15% of people that are Mac based, this was only marginally helpful. But thank you for your otherwise great presentation style. The ding is not your fault....you rightfully focused on the Yaesu provided software which apparentlty only works with a PC. The radio manufacturers are ignoring 1/6 of the market. Kind of like ignoring left hand dominant people..but I guess that is a "thing" also.

If you go into CHIRP and select Baofeng / BFT20FRS you can change power to high and band setting to wide on the regular 22 GMRS channels. The repeater channels don't show up, but at least you can work with the regular 22 GMRS channels.

I have the new Yaesu FTM 150R aspe I got the cable and software from RT Systems for Programming it. But as for the S-Dx ASP I don't like it because it's bringing in unwanted signals it sounds like a CB Radio on SSB but when the channel is clear and you have someone that you're talking to you can use it to listen to them and it sounds like great but with no one talking you can hear noises in the background so I leave it off till I am talking to someone on a repeater. But it does have a loud front facing speaker when you use a separation cable to mount it like you would the ft-891 for mobile. 73 K4BWN

I have and currently use a Yaesu FT DX 1200 as my everyday radio. This radio may be 5+ years old but its one of the best HF rigs I have ever had. The receiver in the 1200 is phenomenal for a non SDR transceiver. I want to get the Yaesu FT 710, however that means I'll be selling the 1200. These things are like cars, usually when you want a new HF rig you trade the old one for a one. 73 great video 👍

Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! Unfortunately the only way I know of is to save a new repeater the one with an error. This radio does not allow you to go in and delete specific channels. The only other ways it can be done is if using programming software or reset the whole radio.

Greetings from The Great White North! Pretty cool, thank you so much for taking the time to post...while some may consider a six-year-old video ancient history, I gotta tell ya, yours was as relevant and helpful as it if it were posted yesterday....AND, it was well done, concise, and absent of blather and nonsense. These radios are still available and near as I've been able to suss out, they are still as good or better than many newer offerings. Your video answered a whole lot of questions I had and have convinced me to take advantage of the last day of a Black Friday sale and get one...just a bit different from my original tube type from the '70s.... Thanks again, stay well 73s VE7BZZ

Please, I need your help. It is advertised as being repeater-capable. It goes up to channel 22, and I cannot get above 22. Do the remaining 8 channels need some customization?
@WJ6FRadio
@WJ6FRadio Ай бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. In order to transmit on a repeater you will need to know the repeater's CTCSS (PL) tone, and if a tone is needed forTransmit only or both receive and transmit. For example one repeater near me with frequency 462.550 requires a transmit tone of 103.5 while the repeater with frequency 462.575 requires a receive CTCSS tone of 74.4 and a transmit tone of 74.4 . sometimes a repeater requireing both receive and transmit will have different tones. for example receive might be 74.4 while transmit is 103.5 . I hope this helps.
