Man, I'd forgotten how good Johnny Cash's version of Ghost Riders is. And glad to hear that the two songs ARE, in fact, related. I've wondered about that for a long time.

1973! Right in the middle of the British Glam Rock era. Great times as a kid until we found out about one Star who is totally shunned now

Also: @ProfessorofRock . If you ever do a piece about Michael Schenker, I'll tell you a true story about him and how I crossed paths with him and what went off backstage one year - again, when I was working the main stage on a rock festival. It's nothing bad, and I'm sure if by some miniscule chance that this gets back to MS, he wouldn't mind if I share the story.

Great top 10!!! Love guitar solo on Reelin' by Elliott Randall. I'd add ZZ Top - La Grange, Aerosmith - Dream On, Jim Croce - Time In A Bottle.

I did stage crew about 20 years ago and there was a band on the billing ( not top billing ) and it was simply called The Animals and Friends. I thought nothing of it at all until they started playing. It was The Animals -AND friends. The friends were a few members from the Moody Blues and Procal Harem. The put together band did all their collective big hit and they went down an absolute storm.

The Bangles' cover of "Where Were You When I Needed You?" wasn't bad, either, but I was totally blown away by "Hazy Shade of Winter"! (My taste runs from Chuck Berry, the father of rock 'n' roll, to Abba, to the Bangles.)

Actually, LRB were a good Aussie band, but they were nowhere near the best. What they did was present the Yank (no offense) music hierarchy their music on terms that were acceptable to said hierarchy. Other much better bands simply refused to do so, and therefore the USA never got to see/hear them.

I have been a Bob Dylan fan since I was fifteen years old, and that was 60 years ago. If I had to choose my favourite Dylan song it would be “Like a Rolling Stone”, although closely followed by Blowin in the Wind, Mr Tambourine Man, Times They are a changin and Tangled up in Blue. Bob wrote so many wonderful songs that it’s difficult to come up with a shortlist.
