It's even worse if you have the "speak to animals" effect active. Poor hyena is terrified, mentions that he's being beaten by what he thinks of as friends, and is terrified of the dark...you don't even get an option to send him to camp

Its actually interesting how Kalarch has a reaction to this since Karlach leaves the party when you raid the grove which was originally the only way to get Minthara, making it basically impossible to have them both at the same time

This was because the player could simply get around this by recruiting Karlach after Act 1, and you could avoid having to kill the Grove yourself by simply abandoning Act 1. Minthara would in this case slaughter The Grove and Tieflings without your interference, but you could go back to where you find Karlach and recruit her then and she'd stay with your party. Minthara could then be found in Moonrise Towers being mind blasted for failing to get the Artefact and recruited by Tav as per normal, and you'd have both Minthara and Karlach in the party. You wouldn't have Wyll however because if you don't help the Tieflings or The Grove he abandons the party.

Well... without the Tadpole, he would be an Archmage. That means you can cast lvl 9 spells such as Wish. Gale is, without comparison the most powerful Companion previously. The only possible competitors wold be the carryover Companions from BG1&2&TOB, who would have ended that trilogy about the same power level. Which reminds me how much I hate what Larian did to Viccy and Sarevok. I worked so hard to redeem them.
