Could you make a custom aluminum heatsink for the bottom of the PS4 Pro to make it silent? The aluminum piece would replace the normal bottom plastic piece. The Vram seems to be the hottest component. Sony tents to barely use enough heatsink causing the fans to be very loud during demanding games like the latest god of war.

Just came back to this video, and it is still both inspiring and rewarding to see. Experiments meet good design and fabulous videography. Did you ever come back to this design?

It is a lot of work but it must feel very rewarding! It is also a good design. You could have cast a second part that with two screw holes, like a bracket you screw onto the wall and you just hook the hook onto it. I wanted to ask, why do you not wear gloves? With the CA glue, when sanding... Why to get all that unhealty stuff on your skin? And do wear respiratory protection when you sand your 3D print! Stay healthy.

Lots of (good?) effort, but you are really shooting yourself in the foot with prep versus results. Having a 'wet' mold that also has added preparations will cause more surface quality issues than they mitigate. Sand casting should be a very simple process.

on the investment sequence, what if you made two separate batches of investment? one, like you did in the video but a thicker mix that you brushed on the the model in 1 or 2 layers so it will build thickness. and the second batch, investment mixed with sand or a cheap filler and poured to fill up the whole structure so not to waste that much investment (and probably help dry faster?)

I would move the bathroom door to the other side, mirror the bathroom and add a window. Having a bathtub with an ocean view would be sicc
@Grunblau
@Grunblau 3 ай бұрын
For this project a tub window was a must! Conversation went back and forth with shower or tub. Either side was a good view of the ocean with access to closet and dressing area being closer to the internal courtyard. Ultimately, it ends up being slightly better where it is for flow of the room along the windows and allowing the bedroom to have a side vs bed being in the middle of circulation. This is about as small as you can get!

Even more impressive than the final product is your determination and patience in this entire process. Not only to commit to such a project, but to also produce, record, and edit an entire video for us to share the joy of a hand made product.

There are a lot of metal casting videos as of late on KZbin. This video is among the best based on a large sampling. Many people wish to make videos and appear as knowledgeable and they often give inferior and flawed instructions that will result in a lot of wasted effort and potential for long term flawed and erroneous methodology. This is a great video for 'small scale lost plastic 3D printed model metal casting' and offers good instructions and sound methodology.

Hello, great video! Quick question - how come you used two bearings opposed to just one? (to get more shaft engagement b/w the bearings and the rectangular "shaft"?)
@Grunblau
@Grunblau 4 ай бұрын
Thanks! Two bearings limit the play that a single set would have. If you cut a section through the shaft you would see four bearings in the section rather than two. The further these bearings are apart, the more resistance to rotation there will be. -|:|- vs -|:|-|:|-

Do you take on commissions? I bought a Pontiac (dream car) and one part, about the size of my fist, GM stopped making, and its made out of aluminum cast metal. Let me know, Thank you-
@Grunblau
@Grunblau 4 ай бұрын
I don’t generally entertain commissions… I get a lot of requests and they rarely go anywhere after I quote the work involved. The best I can offer is putting up enough info for people to pursue their own projects. There are a lot of ways to approach the part you reference that might include investment casting. Most likely it would be best to ask a machine shop that would produce it from billet aluminum and use steel inserts for what look like vacuum ports (not in my wheelhouse). Hope this helps!

do you have any tip for making something like that level without a leveller
@Grunblau
@Grunblau 4 ай бұрын
Make sure the bottom of the pond is level and adjust from there if it isn’t with sheets of pond liner. Then after placing the base, check the rim as best you can with an 8’ level. Install the bowl and check again. Could ultimately shim bowl too worst case…. Got pretty lucky in this case that the pond contractor had made the bottom of the pond extremely level!
