MMA Needs to expand and have specialized types of matches for fighters where the audience right before the fight is given a list of Styles that the fighters have stated they know and then the fighters can only use the style the audience votes on for the entire fight. Also effort would be put into making sure the people that set up MMA fights purposely make sure they seek out fighters that know Drunken Kung Fu and Monkey Kung Fu etc etc... this way things get really spiced up. MMA would still have all the stuff it currently has, this would just be some fun isolated sub set of types of fights they host.

I wanted to love MMA back when it was just starting to catch fire, thinking it'd be more raw than boxing. But then I'd get really bored when they all just started spooning for entire rounds... I get that it's the most practical approach to a fight, just not very exciting to some viewers.

You could tell Rodtang only did enough practice in MMA to know how dangerous it would be to be grabbed. Johnson didn't try to go full kickboxer to win. He needed to keep his pacing up and wait it out. I saw another fight yesterday that was quite the opposite. It was an MMA match in which you could tell one guy trained BJJ almost exclusively. The Thai fighter was good at "just get up." So he neutralized the ground game and got up to keep kicking the BJJ guy.

The bite and other deadly target areas are the way out of those elementary grappling techniques. Obviously not part of the fun in the ring, but don't be choked out and curb stomped in the street Better to be judged by 12 than carried away by 6 Interesting fight anyways I wonder why the boxer came out slow in the 2nd...

This is so stupid and dick tugging it's like saying I can't bring my knife to MMA because it's too destructive. The MMA rules are there for your and your opponents safety, any competitor could kill another competitor easily if there were no rules. I promise you, if you allowed a kick boxer any rules and a Wing Chun expert any rules, the Wing Chun fighter wold lose thier teeth very quickly, just watch the old MMA tournaments. So fucking stupid.

The first round was awesome - Muay Thai is amazing to watch. The second round was a complete snooze-fest. It's the reason I find MMA/UFC so dull. Clinch clinch clinch. Yawn.

Grappling is not a real self defense martial art because it was designed to win 1 on 1 competition matches which rarely happen in real life.

So you make no difference between martial arts and competetive fighting sports? Not speaking how certain mma fighters insert kung fu elements into their styel. And they will not win or lose sololy because of this. Also reading out loud how OP this bullshido is from a kung fu magazine…well, that is how wing chun seems bullshido. I have always accepted it is a good Martial Art but these kinde of videos make me sick.

well, an essential part of kungfu is the use of the open hand and fingers and not only a fist, in order to grab, pull or turn the opponents extremities. with boxing gloves on this cant be done...from this view the conditions are not fair.

Reminds me of the early days of UFC where are all the disciplines fought in the elimination tournament. At least for me that was the first time I saw grappling and how dominant it was against every other discipline.

Now let's see him go into rodtangs ring and see how well he does. Can't see myself as a winner when all I do is run and hook up to waste time. Submission saved him and he knew that was his only way to win this otherwise he would lose in both rings. However I bet if rodtang started MMA training he'd wipe the floor with him.
