I don’t know why so many people said that metal was almost dead during the 90’s as Vinnie Paul also stated🤔 … The 90’s was arguably Megadeth’s most successful decade starting with “Rust In Peace” from 1990, then “Countdown To Extinction” - “Youthanasia” - “Cryptic Writings”. There were so many new kick ass metal bands emerging in the 90’s with “White Zombie” - “Cannibal Corpse” - “Rage Against The Machine” - “Type O Negative” etc.

I seen this tour in Seattle WHITE ZOMBIE opened and PanterA absolutely destroyed. Seen PanterA 6 times everytime was incredible. Im on the PanterA 3 home video where they show phill throwing out keg cups of beer to the crowd im on there catching a beer 🍻 I remember meeting DIMEBAG and Phil and what a great moment.

Phil said the real reason he did his work/ vocals in Nawlens cause didn't wanna be around Vinnie and Dime while he was on dope. The friends down in Nawleans Phil had didn't preach to him or really gave a damn about what he was using.

It's funny how phil brings the controversy up to himself. He denies he's racist but he does a sieg heil on stage, what a knucklehead

For anyone getting nostalgic for "when MTV was good"--this was MTV Europe. You can hear Vinny at the interview talk about how they don't play heavy stuff at home. By '96, HBB was done in the US and metal music was floundering as a mainstream genre. Most of the best bands/interviews from HBB you're combing through on YT are from Europe's version of the show, which featured heavier bands than the US version of the show. tldr: By 1996/1997, MTV in the states was a lot of Real World/Road Rules, and less music. HBB and Yo MTV Raps were done. There wasn't any magical time where MTV in the US was showing Pantera and Sepultura videos on their regular rotation. HBB was always a niche show on weekend nights.

During the Great Southern trendkill tour I saw them in Miami with white zombie. Pretty good show man. Is so damn stupid though that they didn't allow smoking in the Miami arena because we had a few joints to light up back then and we had to keep it so damn down low

@2:56 minutes in you can see Phil change his mind on what the band probably told him, or he told himself to start saying, to look like he was walking the straight and narrow path again. But we all know now, he wasn’t. I still love all of these dudes. Rest in paradise Vince and Dime. They had such an incredible impact on my life when I was younger.

Makes me sick honestly. That means that Phil actually gets unhealthy because of 1996-2000. And most likely it was a stomach issue and thats why he turned to Heroin. Just so happens Pantera was making Kurt Cobain sick and he too went to The Heron 😆

2:23 Interviewer: "So Phil, if I can come to you now about the incident that happened, I mean that really really must have shaken you up really badly. How are you feeling?" Phil: "Didn't really shake me up, I overdosed and killed myself for about 4 minutes."

those dudes should be rolemodels in terms of honesty, integrety and musical craftmanship for everyone. Best heavy metal band in the history of mankind, no questioning about that. Nothing will ever come close to Pantera's energy and passion. Sad but true.
