the 565 and 572 are actually both 70.6cc but yes still less than the 500i.

Thanks man. I bet that letter box technique works well on narrower trees where a bore cut is perhaps not viable.
@elemental4rce12 күн бұрын
you can go deeper to take out more heart wood yes. You can also use it combined with standard bore cuts/dog tooth cuts to get even better results.
@yonmusak12 күн бұрын
@@elemental4rce Cheers. On my current plot for thinning I 've been doing a lot of back cut first techniques, to get the wedge in. They're just too narrow to get the wedge in before it's too late. I did see a type of letter box, where they cut the hinge, then bored all the way through from the hinge side to get the wedge in from the back. I can't for the life of me find that video!

@@yonmusak another method for small tree is the split level method. Mostly used by Europeans but quite used for small diameter trees. I used it today felling 10" Acacia/locust with the use of a felling lever.

Nice cutting I've been thinking about buying a bigger saw either a husqvarna 572xp or a stihl ms 462 not sure which one what's your thoughts
@elemental4rce12 күн бұрын
@@gavinhankinson9158 personally enjoy the 462 over any other saw in it's class. It depends on your environment a lot but it'll do anything from 18"-28" with ease in most woods. I've found myself running the 500i a lot recently for the bigger wood. I advise you try as many as you can before buying if possible
