I am so thankful and appreciative of what any veteran has done from ww2 until now, and I absolutely hate the 10s of thousands of human beings with families and lives have sacrificed so much only for our country to fall into such a chaotic soup of lies and disingenuous elites guiding all of us into oblivion. I would love to hear more of this veterans' story. It was told kind of chaotic (which I am positive it was) to understand how that all unfolded.. Very thankful for all the men and women willing or not gave the ultimate sacrifice for us to have the liberties we have to this day. Thank you for your service!!!

I can’t believe people are doubting this person. Flying in the Vietnam war was no picnic in the park, I would guess most of you wouldn’t know that. For this person to serve on the joint Chiefs of Staff, the don’t just take anyone or some shit birds. Take the time to learn what those medals mean. Actually surprised he lived through all that combat. Remember this: Freedom isn’t free, lots of people died in war so you can sit on your ass and criticize people. Semper Fi (1975-1980).

If this is all legit, he's a pretty big hero. But I don't think all these awards are legitimate. A Silver Star, Six Bronze Stars, 12 Air Medals, and a Purple Heart would make him one of the most decorated officers of the Vietnam war, but aside from the movie, there's very little evidence he was legitimately awarded all these medals. So very highly decorated but only one award of the Meritorious Service Medal? That's rare. He said his air crew wings were for being a crew member on the Airborne Command Post, but he got his Distinguished Flying Cross "serving in helicopters." An Army Aircrew badge would have been extremely rare for an officer. If he had an Expert Infantry Badge and a Combat Infantry Badge, he would almost definitely would not have been aircrew or a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. There is also no record of a Jack Kelley being awarded a Silver Star in the Vietnam War. There's a William Kelley, but he was a lieutenant colonel at the time and he was in the 198th Airborne Brigade, not the 173d as pointed out in this video. His Purple Heart is legit. If he retired as a Lt.Col., he would have served in several units with unique patches - not just the two in the plaque. Jack T. Kelley's Obituary is even more preposterous, since it claims he was a battalion commander in the 82d Airborne Division and Deputy Commander of the 5th Special Forces. Were he a battalion commander in the 82d Airborne (and a Pathfinder), he most likely would have been a master parachutist.. If he were in the 5th Special Forces, he would have had a Ranger tab and a Special Forces Badge, neither of which are on his uniform from published pics. And the rank of the 5th Special Forces Deputy Commander is A little research can verify my claims. I'm an Army vet myself, but it really bothers me when vets exaggerate their service accomplishments. Sorry, Shawn. If I'm wrong, I'll retract my post. I'm willing to see more evidence besides the medals. Each of those medals comes with a citation. Where are the citations?
@Shawn_Kelley
@Shawn_Kelley 11 ай бұрын
He was a pretty big hero to me. But if you asked him, he would tell you the heroes were the men he served with. And they would certainly vouch for him -- I've met many of them. My brother and I read many of the citations, including the Silver Star, for the first time after he passed. I think he kept everything the army issued. He was in many different units in his career, but in his tours of Vietnam, the 173rd and 1st Infantry were the main, if not the only ones. I saw him jump with 1/505th at a jump location at Fort Bragg when he was battalion commander -- I forget the name of it but it had bleachers so friends and family could watch. My brother and I contacted the army and gave them the paperwork they requested in order for the Special Forces color guard to be at his funeral. They presented me and my brother the flag since my mother passed earlier in the year. He was the kindest and most honest man I've ever known. I don't know what else to tell you.

A little research also shows your trying too hard to be an ass. 🙄 Five minutes with Google: MSM wasn’t created till 1969, and as a new medal, it probably wasn’t handed out like candy in the ten years it was available before he retired. The SF tab wasn’t created till 1983, so how would someone that got out in ‘79 earn it? And taking a stab at the Silver Star is cute, seeing how there isn’t a comprehensive list of ones awarded. As for the patches, he literally said those were the units he served with in Vietnam. I’ve never worn my 10th MTN combat patch because the unit sucked both times I was in it. Here’s a suggestion from another Army vet: maybe find a hobby that doesn’t involve being a weirdo looking up people’s obituaries, and talking shit to their family.

@@Shawn_Kelley May your father RIP. Thank your Dad for his dedicated and unwavering service to our country. What's important is what is stated on his HD papers. My father's HD documents are called WD AGO Form 53-55, you know your Dad's as a DD 214. My Dad fought in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign under MacArthur and Whitney during WW2. He was a SSgt in the 1st Filipino Infantry Regiment assigned to GHQ at Camp Tabragalba/Camp X in Brisbane, Australia. My father's papers state in Page #2 Final Endorsement Copy Line 33 - Decorations and Citations that he received his Silver Star, while his Bronze Star was recorded on his Separation Qualifications Record as well as the actual HD documents my brother has. When we buried our Dad in 1994 (He was laid to rest on my birthday, a subtle reminder) ... the funeral director who was also an Army Vietnam Veteran said that whatever is on his HD documents is gospel! I inquired in 2021, received a response from the NPRC in 2022 and received his awards from the US Army TACOM (as well as The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines) in 2023. I checked by contacting the National Archives NPRC and filed Form SF180 requesting Military Records + Awards Inquiry. As you know, the Records Building in St Louis caught fire in 1973 and records were destroyed, but some of his files were saved, especially his Service Record and his BSM Award Recommendation Letter from Brig. Gen. Whitney to MacArthur and his approval from GHQ. So in support of your comment; I AGREE! Be proud of him as I'm proud of my Dad. I'm 68 years old and there isn't a day that I still think of him. 🇺🇸🇵🇭🇦🇺🪖
