Unpin the comment of this infidel and pin mine! This speedrun has nothing to do with the "juxtaposition of speedrunning and modern philosophy". It is what it is. Speedrunning, the art of completing a game as quickly as humanly possible, often seems like a peculiar pursuit to the uninitiated. Yet, within the world of gaming, it is a revered and competitive sport, a place where milliseconds are the measure of legends. Among the pantheon of speedrunning, "Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast" stands out as a beloved and challenging title, drawing both seasoned veterans and eager newcomers to its pixelated battlegrounds. The Enigmatic Appeal of Speedrunning Why do people speedrun games? It’s a question with many answers, each more fascinating than the last. For some, it’s about the thrill of competition, the adrenaline rush of beating a timer. For others, it's a love for the game, a desire to explore every nook and cranny, exploit every glitch, and master every mechanic. And then there are those like Vryndar, who, in a tale as old as the internet itself, seek to reclaim lost glory and vanquish current champions. In Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast, the speedrunning community has cultivated a niche yet passionate following. The game, with its intricate level design, force powers, and lightsaber combat, offers a rich playground for those looking to shave off precious seconds. The satisfaction of executing a perfect sequence of moves, discovering a new glitch, or simply seeing your name climb the leaderboards is an experience that keeps speedrunners coming back. Vryndar's Epic Saga Vryndar, a name whispered in reverence within the Jedi Outcast speedrunning forums, is a top-tier runner with a storied past. His journey through the game is the stuff of legend-his fingers once danced across the keyboard with a grace that seemed almost Jedi-like. But as with many great stories, Vryndar’s saga faced a dramatic twist when he stepped away from the scene, leaving the throne to a new champion: Smash. Smash, the current world record holder, embodies everything a speedrunner aspires to be. His runs are clean, his tactics innovative, and his determination unyielding. The record he set seemed insurmountable, a testament to his skill and dedication. But in the shadows, Vryndar has been plotting his return, a comeback that could shake the very foundations of the speedrunning community. The Return of the King Vryndar’s comeback is fueled by a mix of nostalgia, competitive spirit, and a desire to reclaim his title. He has been honing his skills, studying Smash’s runs with the intensity of a Jedi Master studying the ancient texts. His aim is not just to beat Smash’s record but to obliterate it, to set a time so formidable that it becomes the stuff of legend. Why do people speedrun? For Vryndar, it's about unfinished business and the pursuit of excellence. The game is more than just a collection of pixels; it’s a canvas for his artistry, a stage for his drama. His return promises not only thrilling runs but also a riveting narrative-a tale of a fallen champion rising once more to challenge the best. The Community’s Role The community surrounding Jedi Outcast is a vital part of this narrative. Forums buzz with speculation about Vryndar’s return, Twitch streams see an uptick in viewers whenever he practices, and fellow runners offer tips and encouragement. Speedrunning is, after all, a communal effort. Records are celebrated, strategies shared, and every runner’s success is seen as a win for the entire community. Smash, too, is not just an opponent but a respected peer. The dynamic between him and Vryndar is one of mutual respect and shared passion. Smash’s record has pushed Vryndar to be better, and in turn, Vryndar’s quest will push Smash to defend his title with even greater zeal. Conclusion Speedrunning Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast is more than a hobby; it's a testament to the enduring appeal of video games and the communities they foster. For Vryndar, it’s a chance to rewrite history, to etch his name once more in the annals of speedrunning lore. For the community, it’s a thrilling saga of rivalry and redemption, a reminder of why they fell in love with speedrunning in the first place. So, as Vryndar steps back into the virtual halls of Jedi Outcast, lightsaber in hand and stopwatch ticking, we watch with bated breath. Will he topple Smash and reclaim his crown? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: the journey will be as exciting as the destination.

What is the hidden meaning/theme behind your speedruns btw? To me your runs speak to the eagerness at which we approach life. In speedrunning the goal is to finish as fast as possible, which serves as an excellent juxtaposition to modern popular culture philosophy on enjoying every day, which prefers relishing each moment. Yes, you get multiple attempts in a speedrun, but not so in life. In speedrunning JK2 you have the impending return of Vryndar who will beat all of your runs easily, so you have to get a perfect run before he comes back. I believe Vryndar's reappearance represents the imminent close of death. Please pin my comment to spread the true meaning of speedrunning.

I am not familiar with speedruns. Using so many keybinded console commands doesn't count as cheating?
@smash3596 ай бұрын
no, none of the commands used are cheat protected (none use helpusobi 1, which enables cheats) all commands that are bound can be achieved organically some way or another (vid_restart happens when you change from windowed to fullscreen, so the same effect could be achieved without having a bind. soundstop, or a similar effect, occurs when the blade of the.saber interacts with any surface). It's all basically just quality of life binds that don't effect the run positively or negatively.

@smash3596 ай бұрын
essentially you gain speed by moving your mouse left to right and holding W+A and W+D (there is an optimal rate of turning to gain max speed). the technique is commonly referred to as bunnyhopping and strafe jumping. Possible in many games from this era with different technicalities
