When i was a kid, i dont remember how it started, and how i discovered sonadow, but i really love this ship, I am straight but if shipping sonic and shadow makes me gay I'll accept it. Im 20 now and I came back after leaving and forgetting about this ship cause I felt like people will see me weirdly. But damn when I came back i never felt so happy. Im now a freelance artist and a multimedia student might use my skill to make sonadow art or animation!

I'm an addict of the Rivals to Lovers trope, and one of the things I love so much about it is that it come backed in with SO MUCH CHEMISTRY. There's already so many dimensions to a good rivalry, and that's exactly what Sonadow displays. Mirrors of each other, opposite personalities and perspectives, mutual respect, their histories intersect in ways that have the capacity to create drama and good story (Shadow wouldn't have been born if not for that prophetic mural of Super Sonic, and yet Shadow was the first supersonic hedgehog), etc. That's not even taking into account what you can do with the characters when you decide to play with logical extremes: Sonic's themes of extreme freedom and self-truism CAN comfortably interact with themes of trauma, desperation, identity and cycles of depression and loneliness (Frontiers alone even gives us Amnesia, which can further connect him to Shadow AND repulse Shadow away). Similarly, Shadow's cold distance and aloofness canonically hides how much caring Shadow actually does hide beneath the surface, and we can easily draw themes of loyalty, happiness, self-discovery, and healing from tragedy. One of my favorite dynamics to see in a rivalmance is to see how two paths intersecting spins the two characters wildly out of orbit and out of the ruts they've driven themselves into. In this way, Sonic pulls Shadow forward while Shadow grounds Sonic to earth. Sonic provides Shadow a guiding light while Shadow offers Sonic a set of footfalls that has the capacity to follow behind wherever he goes. And like all good rivalmances, they don't hold each other back, but propel each other forward. I'm not that deep into the source material or the fandom, but the ship has everything I like about a good rivalmance.

The question is, is everyone seeing Sonic and Shadow for Sonic and Shadow? I see people making neurodivergent vs battles and many different ships. SEGA is open to all of that in the Sonic Universe, but is all the ships and neurodivergence of Sonic and other main characters in the games more true than what SEGA is telling us? The story that Sonic is telling is that power is not one being or a collection of jewelry (currency), but the will of the world that still spins. No one is truly dead in the games, but there is death in the comics, but ever so rarely. And that is because the games are telling the story through Sonic, while the comics are being told in the views of the world. There is no trying to make Sonic into something that he is not when he is already a movement. A being of freedom. You can't take that away from him just because he doesn't speak to everyone that has eyes on him. And that is why "wokeism" is always targeted, because making someone that is of their own body and character into someone that they are not is not what makes them truly them. Because that is giving power to someone else that could be manipulative and not seeing the power in their own to be themselves with the people that cares and are no different in human values. Labels are not all human values. Labels are a smaller piece of information that we can take or leave at anytime under no matter the facts or opinions. We don't speak best for everyone or each other for everything and that is a fact that people often ignore.

I’m like 99% sure I am a trans guy (also enby in some way) and I’m also ace and aro-spec, I definitely like girls romantically but I wondering if maybe I like guys too, cause I REALLY like mlm ships rn and I really feel like “I want that” when I see the ships I love, but also I really don’t know cause I currently know like two guys around my age (I’m still a teen) and I’m pretty sure I don’t like either of them romantically. I’ve always felt uncomfortable around guys (some more than others) maybe it’s cause I’ve been taught that, as a person who is viewed as a woman, guys might think some weird stuff that makes me really uncomfortable (especially as an ace person), or maybe it’s cause I have a completely different upbringing from most guys and have a hard time understanding them, maybe it’s cause I always felt like there was a pressure to be in a romantic relationship with a guy or the fact that if a guy and a girl are talk suddenly “aw you two are so cute together” and I don’t want that, or maybe it’s cause I want to be in relationships (romantic or platonic) with guys the way another guy would be but no one sees me that way and will thus treat me as girl. I really don’t know but hopefully I’ll be able to live as much as a guy as I want and will be able to know wether or not I like guys, but I will definitely keep shipping my gay and sapphic ships!

Another really great trans man manga is After School Mate! It's a great example of a character having depth outside of just being trans. But also it's such a real depiction of the constant dulling and almost mundane horror of knowing you're trans and forcing yourself to suppress it until you graduate. Seeing a trans man being accepted, even during that awkward period in which you just started transitioning and don't stereotypically "pass" as a man, it really warms my heart and hits close to home. Hopefully that makes sense. Great job on the video!

I never really saw the appeal in this ship for the longest time, but when I met my boyfriend, (luv u hubby ^w^) I started to understand it, and even enjoy it.
