I really recommend split splicing to join ends of wool. It made my knittinglife so much easier. I use a sharp needle to unwind the yarn and thin it out a bit, then form an V on both ends and slide those into each other, wet it and rub it between my hands to felt it a bit. This builds a strong connection and it’s invisible.

I suggest a headlamp to knit darker colors at night. There are also special knitting lamps to wear around the neck. But headlamps are more versatile.

I know since I’m watching this so much later than when you filmed it you may have already made them, but I do have a suggestion about the color work mittens you were interested in. Ieza Ozolina has a series of books called Knit Like a Latvian. One book has mittens like the ones you mentioned. If you didn’t find anything you were interested making in the book, it includes a free “mitten recipe” that you could make with your pattern. I checked it out free at the library, but it’s also for sale at Amazon and The Wooly Thistle. a.co/d/dJnbxCm

I watch your „older“ content again because it keeps me company while knitting. I‘m currently recovering from orthopedic surgery so need to lay a lot, it’s super boring so I knit a LOT. 😅 I don’t like we are knitters because they name their yarn misleading. „Touch me mohair“ suggests a higher content of mohair then 22% - 54% babyalpaca isn’t what someone would expect of that yarn name. Especially the bulky yarns - they do a lot - are very prone to pilling and feel a bit tacky to me. I also don’t like their patterns. I‘m happy I found „the real deal“. Don’t appreciate it then companies are trying to fool me.

1st time watching your channel. I don't know anything about you or your names yet🙃, but judging from 1ish minutes, I would guess the one in the black tank top is the eldest. I have fraternal twin boys. 🙃

Lol, oh boy I'm gonna say Rachel, as an older sister my little sister tends to copy me (not a bad thing most of the time) a lot ... And since Jessica is copy heavy this time we'll call that my guess lol happy birthday Jessica🎉. Happy birthday Rachel 🎉

I think Jessica is the oldest for the same reasons that others have said. I think I remember that Jessica finished one of Rachel's knits when she didn't have the patience to finish it, seems very "older sister" to me. I hope you had a wonderful birthday and holidays and I can't wait for the next episode of your podcast.

To me the sis in black is the eldest. I'm usually right about guessing. Happy birthday to you both! Ok that was at the very beginning of the episode and now I'm changing my tune, left side eldest, right side youngest. Both girls are delightful!

Happy birthday!! 🎉❤️ Praying for a great year ahead for you both!! If you ever do a bonus video outside of the typical (amazing) podcast episodes, it would be so cool to do a haul of each of your hand-kit wardrobe’s, where you each quickly go through all your garments you’ve made that are still in your closet! Maybe a sewing one too! I think it would be very inspiring to see your full collection from over the years! Love your episodes, they inspire me to knit more and try new things!!

I agree with most people here that I think Jessica is the oldest! Also, would love a post on vacation knits - what projects are you taking with you, what notions / supplies, how you decided / packed, etc! I just got back from Italy, where I made my first ever pair of socks since it was small and fit in my purse for when we were in lines waiting for stuff, and I also brought a cardigan project. I leave again for Colorado and Wyoming tomorrow, so I'm starting another pair and did a Japanese short row heel during this video - definitely took some of the anxiety out since your voices are so calming

For sure Jessica first then Rachel - Jessica is a typical big sister (for all the good reasons :)) It was so inspiring to see all those gorgeous bags - they all ended up in my queue, except for the Florence bag, which is already done and just sitting waiting for the zipper and lining. It was meant to go with me to Florence but it did not make it. Love your sew adventure - you are so stunning in all of them. wish you a great summer vacation - and looking forward all your fall knits and sew projects

If you want to avoid the gym shorts top-stitching on the skirt's waistband, you should do vertical topstitching along the side seams. That will keep the elastic from flipping without affecting the design.

I also think Jessica is the oldest. She is a little more maternal and encouraging when Rachel is sharing. Both young women are just adorable and I’m always so happy to see a new video appear. Mom and dad need to be congratulated for raising such lovely girls.

Can I ask how many skeins did you use for the tide loops bag. I’m going to knit in Line and trying to work out how many I need to buy with adding 2-4 extra pattern lines to make 6-8 rows. There aren’t many projects on Ravelry so thought I’d ask to gauge how much I will need to get. Thank you 🙂.
@thosetwinswhoknit19 күн бұрын
I should have taken better notes, but I think I used 3-4 skeins! I’m fairly certain I started with 6 skeins and had enough left over to give to Rachel for her to make a different bag!
@HarrietHanlon19 күн бұрын
@@thosetwinswhoknit oh lovely thank you! I am not very good at working out how much yarn I need for a project. I always seem to over buy and never know what to do with the one ball/skein I have left over.

Let's say Rachel is the oldest... when she came to this world as the first born she was full of excitement to tell her mom and dad that she met the most adorable girl ever and that her mom had to do her best to bring her to this world so they could chat and giggle and knit all there lives long. And then came Jessica, she just knew she had to let her sister come first to tell and show the world how wonderful they both were... when she arrived she looked at her sister loved her immediately and smiled. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ladies.

Fun fact: the airy quality in Brooklyn Tweed yarn that you mentioned is because it's "woolen spun" rather than "worsted spun" (not related to worsted weight). Basically, it means that the fibers were all jumbled up and going in different directions when they were spun instead of being combined to lie in the direction of the yarn. This creates the airiness you described, which makes the yarn warmer and less dense than woolen spun yarns.

@thosetwinswhoknit19 күн бұрын
To be honest neither of us carries clutches often, so we’re probably not the greatest source to confirm, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work as long as you’re okay with the somewhat floppy structure of the bag!

Love your channel! You remind me of one of my daughters who spent some time in KC one year doing the KC Ballet intensive. I wondered if y’all did ballet also. But the reason I’m texting is that you can shorten zippers. Just google for instructions bc you may be able to fix your cute bags if the zipper issue bothers you enough. Regardless, it’s good to know for future projects.

Next time you knit a colorwork drop shoulder sweater, try steeking for the armholes. That way, there's no purling involved. The Ebba is a great pattern that does just that and has instructions if you're interested in trying it.
