It's gaslighting to say that fans don't like it because Peter Cullen wasn't in it. Peter Cullen wasn't used in several animated versions of Optimus Prime at this point and this is a younger, almost a separate character anyway. Fans are probably leery of it because none of the characters act or sound like the characters they are based on.

I personally, didn’t watch the film, because of the trailer. I hadn’t heard anything about it either way. The trailer seemed like The Great Gatsby, which I had a lot issues with. Then talking to a friend she asks “Did you like Moulin Rouge?” I tell her I walked out of the theatre about mid movie. She asked about Romeo + Juliet, I told her I found it ridiculous and horrible, I also couldn’t finish it. She then proceeded to tell me these are all films by the same director. Apparently I don’t like his vision (I was unaware of it). Debauchery is what I got from the trailer, and I wasn’t interested in a movie being a lot visually, with nothing to say. Then I finally saw it in streaming and that’s exactly what it was. For me, the trailer kept me from going - glad it did, because the movie was exactly what the trailer sold.

Honestly the rest of them weren’t necessary given that Negasonic and Colossus. Every X-man isn’t needed on every mission and though Juggernaut is a threat the team that was sent was exactly the team needed.

To me, this has nothing to do with voices. I was fine with the voice substitutes. What I have an issue with, is when they first announced this, they claimed it was going to be done in the style of the 1986 animated movie. Hand-drawn. They totally LIED!! Some clarification: Peter Cullen wasn’t recast. Peter Cullen has simply never voiced Orion Pax before, only Optimus. They used a different, younger sounding VA for Orion back when he was used in the G1 cartoon. Besides, from all that I’m hearing, it sounds like Peter Cullen will be in Transformers: One, but only when Orion becomes Optimus Prime.
