For a while I thought you couldn’t use greatswords on this boss. First playthrough, I switched from my Claymore to the Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana and respec’d to give my Mimic Tear healing and some incantations. I’m glad to see this type of success and the title is also great. My main issue with Radahn even though I like him is that he doesn’t really allow for much combat expression since unless you have a super fast weapon, you can only hit him once his combos end and there’s not enough positioning or jump or low-profile openings imo. Cool video though!

Yeah I was trying a bunch of faster weapons too but wasn't doing any better so I just went back to the old reliable greatsword combo. I agree about Radahn, it's pretty tedious to get like one hit in every 20 seconds, especially since he recovers posture so quickly

@@rwberger6 it’s just a general int/str build, but jump attacks seemed to work well for this fight specifically so I put the claw talisman on temporarily. The armour is primarily about the drip anyway

For me, the true measure of skill is seeing the runes count higher than zero at the beginning of the fight

I don't know but i did stance broke him with counterguards with a Katana and with a Flamberge with the Impaling Thrust AoW. I did use the tear that helps you Stance Break and the counterguard/shard of Alexander to boost my attacks. So much that the first phase was pretty easy

The dlc canonically takes place before you pick an ending, otherwise it wouldn't work at all

@@squidwardstesticles5914 Also if you do ansbach's questline and summon him for radahn fight then when he is dying he says that become a lord for men not gods which means that we haven't yet become the elden lord adding another proof that the dlc is supposed to be before the base game ending which makes sense I guess since you can access the consecrated snowfields right after killing morgott and then get to mohgwyn palace from there and you get to the land of shadow through mohgwyn palace. (I also know that you can do varre's quest to get there really early but the mohgwyn palace has endgame scaling and is meant to be accessed a lot later)

It's what I've been rolling with, plus Death's Poker for my "Death Carian" character in my first DLC playthrough and it's a ton of fun. A lot of bosses are pretty weak to frost too so that helps. Haven't beaten Radahn yet though.

@@ecci0261 I just beat him tonight! Ended up switching to a quality faith build with Sword of Light and Coded Sword (mostly for the first phase). Crazy ending as we basically traded some hits and I just beat him to the last one and ended with like 25hp 🤣. Insane fight.

80 int, about 35 str I think, Scadutree level 19, magic damage boosting physick tear (probably where the majority of extra damage is coming from if you have similar stats), and claw talisman to boost jump attacks
